You're a bit late! It's ~4 months since I switched to GrapheneOS and I love it! A few little things I miss but long live GOS

Thank you anyway

LibreTube instead of Youtube

I prefer grayjay! It's great and it has a good-ish desktop version

To set up your AirPods with an Android phone or other non-Apple device, follow these steps:

  1. On your non-Apple device, make sure that Bluetooth is on (on an Android device, go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth).

  2. Do one of the following:

    • AirPods 1, 2, or 3, or AirPods Pro (all models): With your AirPods in the charging case, open the lid, then press and hold the setup button on the back of the AirPods case for about 5 seconds, or until the status light flashes white.

    • AirPods 4 (both models): Open the case with your AirPods inside, hold it next to your device, then double-tap the front of the AirPods case so the status light flashes white.

    • AirPods Max: Press and hold the noise control button for about 5 seconds, or until the status light flashes white.

  3. When your AirPods appear in the list of Bluetooth devices, select them.

~~I have to find where I saw this first~~

Edit:

It appears a “serious bug” was discovered in the One UI 7 update after it began rolling out in several countries on April 7, followed by a US rollout on April 10. According to Ice Universe, users in South Korea started reporting issues with unlocking their phones after the update, leading to Samsung pulling the plug on it for now. If you haven’t received the One UI 7 update yet, this suspension could be the reason why.

Not where I saw it but this too

[–] Cris16228 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I've read something about it and it could be because some people got locked out of their devices or something

[–] Cris16228 5 points 4 days ago

Yeah I wish it was official! Love DeArrow and grayjay!

Like the title says, I want to ask the dev if it's possible to add this feature. I remember when I used reddit, I used to use an app called "Boost for Reddit" and it had this nice feature that highlighted the new comments in previously opened posts. Boost used some brighter background color for the new comments but that's up to you, maybe something visible. The picture shows how it was for boost

I think it would be nice to see what new comments you have in previously opened posts

If I have to open a github feature request, let me know

As the title says I'm looking for a good alternative for Heliboard. I've tried a few of them and:

  • Heliboard is my favorite but the suggestions are a bit meh, sometimes it doesn't suggest correctly or does not auto correct me. Sometimes it does but sometimes it doesn't
  • Futo is goat in suggestions compared to Heliboard but it doesn't have an much personalization as Heliboard (even if Heliboard isnt goat on that aspect). I can't change symbols layout based on my taste (or muscle memory tbh), themes are a nothing crazy IMO, I wish I was able to make my own but its currently set to "coming eventually"
  • FlorisBoard was my first ever open source keyboard but at that time, it didn't have suggestions but placeholders so I uninstalled it because I need them

I'm looking for a few things (ordered by importance):

  1. Multilanguage support for correction. Is it even possible? Before switching from Samsung Keyboard to Pixel + Foss keyboard, I think there was something similar but I could be wrong (Top priority but at the same time is optional if not possible/hard to have)
  2. Great correction for multiple languages (IMHO Futo is superior to everything I've tried)
  3. Customization: Symbols layout, I want to set my own symbols and "subsymbols" (? The hold to show more)
  4. Customization: Themes. I want to be able to change the colors of the keys/background/etc basically how Samsung Keyboard is customizable with the Keyboard plugin in Good Lock (or some nice themes with limited personalization but I would love to set my own colors

Thanks!

Linux suggestion (self.linux)
submitted 3 months ago by Cris16228 to c/linux@lemmy.ml

I'm currently looking for a new OS, coming from KDE neon and I like it, but the fact I have to FUCKING restart because someone decided to push an OS update that broke my previous install, now the OS freezes my whole PC (never did before!) and I have to restart.

I'm looking for good apps support so Debian? Idk Using it for daily usage (Android/games development) and gaming.

I'm also looking for:

  • Wobbly windows (yes useless but cool lol)
  • Good customization
  • KDE connect support (a must)
  • Krunner or equivalent (MacOS like search)
  • Idk?

Thank you!

As the title says, I want to finally degoogle (completely) my life. I've found a Pixel 7 8/128 for ~270€ (or pixel 8? ~470€ but no white :c) it's refurbished so google doesn't get a shit from me.

I'm curious to know if:

  • You can change the default icons color (black and gray-ish in the image) or is based on the wallpaper
  • The camera app is good. Not going to make professional pics or videos but I still want to use it to take pics and a good quality is important. Tried their camera on a phone and the bottom menu to switch mode (picture/video/night mode/etc) was buggy
  • Battery life is better/worse than stock Android (if anyone tried that)
  • How the sandboxed play services work
  • Anything else that I should know about. Some people say it's good, some it's bad so I'm curious to know.

I'm still looking for a good maps replacement, Organic Map is not the best because it's missing a lot of places where I live. I wish there was a google wallet Foss alternative... I needed it to use my card with the phone (rare but still possible!)

Help a new user to fully leave shitty phone companies

~~Edit: Does it have some kind of cross profile notifications? Can I see notifications of another profile on the main?~~

GrapheneOS supports forwarding notifications from users running in the background to the currently active user. Forwarding notifications to other users is disabled by default and can be enabled within each user profile where forwarding to the active profile is wanted. Notifications forwarded from other profiles are displayed by default in a standard local notification channel.

It does

Hello everyone!

Recently, I saw so many posts about this and I started to think about degoogling (degoogleing?) my life.

I've started with fdroid and found some nice apps in there and I'm curious to know some alternatives I may or may not know

  • Youtube: Currently, I use ReVanced and even though is just the default app with something in it, I want an alternative with background listening, import my subscriptions w/ notifications and if possible with sponsorblock
  • Mail: Using a combo or Gmail + proton. I started to use proton recently and I want to move everything there when I have time. Suggestions here?
  • Cloud storage: Self hosted/proton? Alternatives
  • Gallery app: Stock
  • Video player: Stock
  • Music player: Stock
  • 2FA app: I have Authy and I tried to install aegis. I also have Ente but I've never used both
  • Mail app: Using K9 and the app is awesome compared to google or Samsung Mail
  • Password Manager: Bitwarden
  • Weather app: Currently, using Breezy weather

If possible, apps with a nice looking UI, modern with/without Material You

I'm using a Samsung S23 and I would like to know how bad it is to change ROM with something better and if it's really worth Pixel + GrapheneOS. Thanks

Edit: I forgot the most important one with probably no alternatives (?) Thanks to @JustMarkov@lemmy.ml (idk how to mention)

  • Samsung pay
