I don’t have a source, but I read somewhere earlier that a teen in Canada is in intensive care with it, and there’s no connection between the teen and fowl or livestock. There has been a couple of these in the last couple months. I like to think of it as the couple engine turn overs before you get the lawnmower started. There was also something about it infecting about farm I saw, which is tre bad because the pigs can host human flu and this one at the same time and possibly generate the jump.

I wonder about whether large swathes of the public are capable of doing quarantines or taking safety measures… I mean they’re definitely done with Covid, but if this kicks off it will be way scarier way fast with hospitals collapses and bodies rotting in houses, so maybe that’s enough. But honestly we’re so far into hyper reality mode that they also might not be physically capable of acting rationally or believing things that run counter to what they want to believe.

I haven’t used competing apps to know, but as a forced teams user it is very sluggish, seems to break other ms apps half the time and has some strange and persistent design choices that irk me. It also crashes on its own, when I’m not using it 2-3 times a day.

It has improved in terms of features lately, but still feels very bloated and WIP most of the time. It still won’t let me control where video windows are, and I’ll never understand this.

This is our replacement for Skype, which was obviously feature deficient and getting old, but does what it’s supposed to do and doesn’t cause problems.

Not sure if there’s a good competing app in terms of video and slack functionality, integration into outlook and onedrive (both of which also annoy me and seem to be performing worse-over-time, but are unavoidable and sometimes useful.)

Yeah you’re probably right. The wiki makes it sound like the policies were intended to try and shortcut negative outcomes, but didn’t necessarily work out. I can’t find it but I remember a piece with him on DemocracyNow where he explained something to the effect that during this process post-USSR the whole thing was hijacked by western political goals and designed to enthrall Russia and his proposal was essentially torn apart/twisted.

In any case, I’ve found his commentary frequently interesting or useful. He tends to come down pretty hard on American hegemony/adventurism. Lots of similar positions to John Mearsheimer from what I‘ve watched.

They’re completely ok with a little genocide, as long as you do an appropriate amount of hand-wringing and wishing for safe return of hostages. Who knows how many people is too many for them, but clearly 200k+ isn’t a big problem.

But the first time trump continues weapon shipments to our favorite apartheid regime, I’ll bet that will be when the genocide becomes too much to handle.

I think he claims to have been overruled on USSR restructuring and was radicalized by the process, but I’m a little fuzzy on that. He does have pretty good takes lately though.

Yeah no, I’ve always heard canned tomatoes are best because you’re getting ripe ones, even if you’re using it in the middle of winter. There’s nothing intrinsic to canning that is adding flavor I don’t think.

Maybe the other reason is that the canned ones are usually Roma or preferred and maybe random people off the street might try to make a sauce with beefsteak tomatoes or something.

I like using canned also because I dont have to do the whole thing where you Blanche the tomatoes cut an x in them and squeeE out all the seeds plus seed water/goo. It’s optional but makes a difference for a sauce of your using fresh tomatoes.
