It's honestly pretty inconsistent. I've definitely had it completely disregard my quotes without giving me a choice.

It's hard to say specifically but synth-pop is the best thing I can find. For something similar you could look to Purity Ring and some of Grimes's work. There's also things like Avalanches and I monster which I believe would be called Trip Hop.
