Yeah I like the look, like something you'd see on a spaceship

Nukes. We know they have them and missiles to deliver them. Any situation where a wildcard like North Korea uses nukes in any offensive capacity is terrifying. "Nuclear War: A Scenario" is a great modern book on how things could go to hell if one single North Korean nuclear missile is launched towards the United States.

Artillery. In any case of open war on North Korea anyone within artillery range of the NK border will be bombarded with heavy shelling. Even if it lasted for just an hour or two before the batteries were eliminated the civilian casualties and destruction would be like a large natural disaster. Now imagine if chemical shells were added to the mix, because they have those too.

China has the most leverage to help North Korea on a humanitarian and diplomatic level without risking war, so if it could be done the best chance is through them.

"tactical" was (and still is) the "gamer" for all kinds of outdoor related gear

It's supposed to suggest that it's simple and rugged, like how gaming stuff is supposed to be about peak performance. So tactical stuff gets a black or brown coat of paint and gaming stuff gets RGB lighting

Well shit, I would if I could. Not touristy shit but like a nice quiet spot, a fire and a drink in my hand

I agree! The 2nd amendment isn't for the right or left. It is for EVERYONE, some people just chose to ignore it because they could. It's easy to make fun of open carry gun nuts and paranoid preppers, but you know maybe a government that is unwilling/unable to help you isn't so far fetched after all

Anyone can buy similar stuff, train at a range every month or so to get proficient (dry fire is fine too if you don't have a range), read a few military manuals your tax money paid for. Being a responsible gun owner may sound daunting but it's not.

Then work on physical fitness a bit, enough to take a 5+ mile hike without dying. Learn some first aid too because everyone should be able to deal with a gunshot wound anyway.

In the end you can't assume that your political opponents to take risks for you

True and say what you want about American wars, they don't take territory for themselves. Russia on the other hand

[–] SomeAmateur@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ukraine was invaded, twice, with Russia as the aggressor. That isn't Ukraine's fault and they have every right to kick Russian ass as long as it takes for Russia to pull out or negotiate. Both will be politically painful so the war goes on.

And if you're in a shooting war with Russia, who better to ask for weapons than the US? Even old outdated US equipment was designed to take on Soviet equipment so yeah you want them as friends to give your nation a fighting chance and prove to Russia and the international community that they won't be pushovers.

And look at NATO. They are bumping defense GDP to 5%. Finland, Poland, Estonia and others are withdrawing from agreements that forbid the placement of anti-personnel mines. Even if this war ends tomorrow, nobody seems to think Russia will be satisfied for long

Calling someone's AR military grade is a pretty good insult!

20 miles one way is going to be a rough commute to start. I agree with other comments about riding for fun to get the setup right for you and build endurance

I don't know if this is feasible for you but maybe get a bike rack and drive part way, park somewhere public and ride the rest of the way in?

What could be more indicative of a thirst for power and control than a perfectly level, uniform expanse of grass? Clearly, only someone with fascist tendencies would aspire to such impeccable orderliness, attempting to impose their oppressive standards on nature itself. Because nothing says "I want to dominate the world" quite like the pursuit of a weed-free lawn.

Consider the process of maintaining a lawn. It's essentially an exercise in subjugation. Mowing down innocent blades of grass week after week, enforcing a uniform height – it's like a tiny dictatorship being played out in your front yard. And let's not even mention the chemical warfare that goes on behind the scenes – those pesticides and fertilizers are the secret tools of aspiring autocrats, seeking to eliminate any form of diversity (read: weeds) in their quest for homogeneity.

But the plot thickens when we consider the boundary lines. The quintessential white picket fence, meticulously aligned with the driveway, serves as a clear metaphor for the barriers these so-called "lawn fascists" wish to erect between themselves and the rest of the world. Heaven forbid a dandelion or, heaven forbid, a clover should breach these sacred borders! It's not just a lawn, it's a fortified buffer zone against any hint of dissenting plant life.

And let's talk about the water consumption. While the rest of us worry about global water shortages and environmental sustainability, these lawn-loving authoritarians are apparently convinced that the well-being of their turf is of paramount importance. Are they hoarding water to fuel their nefarious plans for world domination? It wouldn't be surprising – every power-hungry despot needs a well-hydrated base of operations.

In conclusion, the evidence is irrefutable: anyone with a lawn is a fascist. The quest for a pristine lawn represents a disturbing desire for control, uniformity, and domination over the natural world. So, the next time you see a neatly trimmed yard, just remember – behind that innocent facade of green lies a potential dictator in the making, plotting to impose their authoritarian rule, one well-timed sprinkler cycle at a time.

I do target shooting as a hobby but I'm genuinely curious. The US is known (for better and worse) for it's culture of gun ownership but the US is also know for widely differing experiences
