As much as I agree with the sentiment, this strikes me as similar to when MAGAts would post pictures of empty store shelves during COVID and would say it’s what Biden’s America would look like. We all laughed because they were literally pictures of Trump’s America.

I understand that Trump is going to gut federal agencies but…this is happening right now. Under Biden’s watch.

Pronounced kæro (K air o)

Comically, in Latin the æ would be pronounced with a sound like “ai” in “aisle,” so kæro would be pretty much the same as how you would expect to say Cairo.

(Fun fact, in Latin “Caesar” is pronounced very similarly to “Kaiser,” and is where the word “Kaiser” comes from.)

The elephants aren’t without blame here.

I had totally forgotten about the Defeated One’s head getting yanked off and uh…how the hell did I forget about that? Shit was brutal.

For those who are unaware or curious, iOS can do this with your Guided Access settings. You can set it up to be unable to leave the app it’s currently in when you start Guided Access.

Hope this thing flops.

Why?

I like Wicked. I would’ve preferred a single-movie version, but there is a lot of plot kind of rushed or skipped over in the musical. If they go back to the source material of the book they can flesh some of that out nicely and give more context to the story.

It might be good! It might be terrible. I don’t know yet.

But why hope for it to flop?

I would prefer to go back in time literally 24 hours and HAVE consequences.

I would not eat the food that likely gave me food poisoning.

Depends. Is there a McElroy brother nearby? Awesome. No? Hmm. Not as sure.

Seriously. For people saying things don’t change, look back forty years. Reagan was elected in a landslide, winning every state but Minnesota, while refusing to talk about the AIDS crisis, and people acted like it was what “the gays” deserved. Within the last forty years we’ve not only practically ended AIDS in industrialized nations, but we have legalized gay marriage in the entire USA.

Go back sixty years and you’re at the Civil Rights Act. We just had the second major black candidate for president. She lost, sure, but the fact that she was one of the two candidates would’ve been unthinkable sixty years ago. Especially given that she would’ve been the second black president had she been elected.

The world is not perfect, and the better choices are certainly often flawed, but lines don’t go straight up. Progress takes time. And it can be hard to see in the moment, especially with setbacks like this election. But we are better off now than we were forty years ago, or sixty years ago.
