In Japan, firefighting services are paid for directly by the people living in that area.

I typically have to pay ¥10,000 a year ($69 USD) and all of that money goes to the closest fire department.

They don’t check your payment status or anything, but it’s expected of you.

Whereas policing is paid for via taxes like most other countries.

Same thing they gained from invading Hong Kong, they think it belongs to them.

Or as one of my old friends told me while playing Final Fantasy 12; the only legitimate reason to wage war against another country - land.

Hong Kong is already part of the Chinese mainland and was already kinda part of China, but Taiwan is a geographically strategic location that puts both Koreas, the Philippines, & Japan in a tougher position. Even without war it would make trade and travel in the Pacific much harder.

Do not miss growing up in south Texas and having to deal with hot rainstorms.

Whatever their motivation, gaming is good for mental health and cognition so this is a net win for the entire crew.

But I’m disappointed at him for that choice as well.

Goldeneye 007 on the Nintendo 64 has many iconic levels, but not all of them are created equal.

In this video, I rank the levels according to how much I like and dislike them.

(This is a reupload to fix an issue with the original, namely that #3 was missing entirely!)

Star Trek Thye Next Generation's Dr Beverly Crusher is a severely underrated character. Here's a video explaining all the traits that make the character interesting and why Crusher centric episodes are usually good, except of course, Sub-Rosa.

Here, here.

I didn't see this anywhere.

Harris Yulin, known to Trek fans as Aamin Marritza (aka Gul Darhe'el), died of cardiac arrest on June 10th, 2025 at the age of 87.

Harris is also known for Dynasty, Scarface, Ozark, and the Judge in Ghostbusters II:

The Orville season 1, episode 7 "Majority Rule"

Written by Seth MacFarlane, directed by Tucker Gates.

The Orville is sent to rendezvous with a missing research team on a planet strangely parallel to 21st-century Earth. While exploring the surface undercover, Lieutenant John Lamar (J. Lee) is (in)advertently disrespectful of the planet's culture and finds that his life hangs in the balance of what everyone else thinks about him. Running out of time and options, Lieutenant Alara & Dr. Finn offer a sympathetic local (Giorgia Whigham) the ride of a lifetime in exchange for her help.
