In Central Florida, we were overrun in the Spring with Lovebugs, which were an invasive species. They had sticky, acidic guts which would stick to cars and ruin the paint. Every Spring, stores would have big displays of the liquid to add to your wiper fluid to remove the Lovebugs from your windshield.

Then they disappeared, nearly overnight. A few years ago, the Spring hatching was really light, and it's been lighter each year. I saw one Lovebugs this year.

The weird thing is, scientists have no idea why, because there is no grant money to study it. They are an invasive species, so we want them to go away. Nobody is going to spend money to find out why.

In the case of Lovebugs, their eradication was a positive outcome, but whatever wiped them out, could wipe out bugs that we want to keep because they are important to the food chain.

I'll bet he picked out all that shiny crap all by himself. Probably had a blast looking through some tacky catalogue, picking out the most ostentatious tchotchkies, knowing that the government was picking up the tab. Only real gold for the president, none of that gold-plated garbage.

I'll bet he takes it all home with him as well. We can fix that by putting him in a jail cell for life, then auction off this gold crap to pay for his keep.

I'm not blaming gays in general, but I also have a lot of life experience that demonstrates that often the loudest, most vicious homophobic politicians, preachers, etc., almost always eventually get caught with gay men. If you are that angry about gays simply existing, it is likely because you have unresolved internal hatred.

It is simply a fact that unhappy closeted gays are often the gay community's worst enemies. I don't blame "gays" for that, I blame a homophobic society that demonizes gay orientations, and forces weak people to deny their own truth.

Or that Project 2025 is a positive direction for America.

Right. Re-election, the MAGAs dismissed the P25 warnings as liberal nonsense, and now there is proof that the MAGAs were lying, stupid, or both.

Couldn't be that a systemically homophobic society would confuse and frustrate ignorant savages without critical thinking skills, who also happen to be having gay feelings that they have been socialized to despise since childhood.

But he's a total MAGA loyalist, and we all know that's what's really important in a natural disaster. Much better to have a virtuosically incompetent MAGA in charge, than an experienced, trained, educated Emergency Response Professional, who might be a {GASP!} Democrat.

It was actually only one of dozens of similar atrocities that happened around that time. In fact, 1919 is referred to as "Red Summer," for the number of organized attacks on black neighborhoods.

I live in the Orlando area, and a local news station did an extended story on the 100th anniversary of a local massacre in Ocoee,, caused when a black citizen insisted on voting in the 1920 Presidential election. 30-80 black citizens were murdered, their properties confiscated, and the rest driven from town. Their stolen properties were distributed among prominent white members of the town, whose families still own the properties to this day.

Like most of these massacres, the Ocoee massacre was almost totally forgotten, by design. They weren't talked about, and younger generations weren't told about them, neither in school, nor at home. Discussion was harshly discouraged. Within a couple generations, they were mostly forgotten.

Stick to your guns OP. People here are judging your Dad for cheating, but it sounds like your Mom has been actively alienating everyone around her for years. People who make life difficult for those around them will eventually find themselves alone. People eventually stop dealing with their bullshit, and move on in life. It sounds like you and your Dad decided to move in a less stressful, more fulfilling direction. He found love, and you found peace, while your Mom wants to continue sowing discord, drama, and chaos in your lives. I don't blame you for rejecting her efforts, and choosing peace.

Most places in America, it's about $3. Where I live, it cycles between $2.90 and $3.20. it's about $3.09 today.
