I don’t like nicotine gum or pouches

Same, it's the possibility of replacing the smoke break ritual that did it for me.

dios mio, los boludos estan helados

you know, people really underestimate how cold the southern tip of South America can actually get... people from the south of Brazil, famously people from Curitiba, will never shut up about how cold it gets lol

I don't blame them though, I've been there before and it really is fucking cold during winter, especially since Brazilian architecture is not equipped to deal with the cold, there's no heat pumps or central heating pretty much anywhere

I've met foreigners from cold countries who came to Brazil, went to Curitiba and felt colder than ever before, because they had to rawdog the relentless cold even when they were indoors

Taurus pistols are fantastic, because they don't let you hesitate. If you're holding one and you start shaking it will pull the trigger for you, it's really convenient. Check it out at the 1:00 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKWPF44X4Ts

I was listening to Sia's Chandelier (one of the best pop songs of all time IMO) recently and it got me thinking about how different pop culture discourse has become in a post-Qanon world, because people would go absolutely fucking insane if the music video for Chandelier and especially Elastic Heart were released today.

I remember watching these videos roughly ten years ago when they came out and thinking they were poignant and beautiful, and that Maddie Ziegler was incredibly expressive and talented. Nowadays I feel legit uncomfortable watching the very same piece of media. Sometimes it blows my mind how much the world changed after 2016.

TLW has one of my favorite VFX shots of all time, which is that part where the T-Rex headbutts a bus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVIS31ghLNQ

That's true. Still, I feel just fine after all these years, and my lung capacity is way better than it used to be when I smoked cigs. That's not to say that it's perfectly safe, absolutely nobody should ever start vaping unless it's for harm reduction.

My guess is that if you get a larger system with better quality parts, it’s going to be safer generally than smaller/and more disposable oriented stuff.

I'm a former smoker, vaping for the last ten years on rebuildable tanks with box mods. I had been smoking cigarettes for about ten years before I made the switch. Anecdotally, I can say that my vapes feel way way way less harmful than cigarettes.

I will not touch a disposable vape, and I think they are absolutely a harmful product. This study shows that it's harmful for your body, but I didn't need to know this problem in order to identify that casually throwing away a device with a battery in it is a big no-no. Disposable vapes are incredibly wasteful products.

One of the most fascinating videos I've seen in a long time. It's simply mind-blowing how complicated the seemingly simple task of developing a Chinese typewriter actually is, when you think about it. Typewriters are so commonplace in the West that we just kind of take them for granted, but developing a device that can produce tens of thousands of different 汉字 which can mix together elements in varying shapes and sizes is a near-impossible engineering problem.

Also, Jeremy Fielding is a must-follow if you're into engineering, the guy's a bonafide genius, and I just love listening to him speak, he seems like such a cool person.

The question is: how do I become a streamer? lmao

I know, I know, but the thing is, I've been teaching English for about ten years now and I'm frankly getting tired of the grind, waking up early as shit, teaching for six to nine hours each day and all that. I make good money, but I get the feeling that the real big money is in doing online stuff. Selling courses, making content, that kind of stuff.

My idea for a channel or twitch stream or whatever would be me playing games and then commenting on interesting aspects of the stuff characters are saying in the games. Some of the streams would be Q&As, some straight-up lessons on specific topics, maybe some streams dedicated to other stuff like films and TV shows. You get the idea.

The thing is, I don't even know where to start. I'm familiar with OBS, I have a good camera and mic setup that I already use for my online lessons, but I don't know where to start in terms of platforms, streamers to use as references and what I should expect from the process of cultivating an audience.

What do you folks think? Where should I begin?

Brazil's favorite Papa Nurgle daemonhost is at it again, folks.

I kindly request that you send my country your best thoughts and prayers. This time he was saved by SAMU, our free and public emergency healthcare service created by... Lula.

I challenge you not to tap your foot as you listen to this absolute banger

Also, it caused a bit of a stir way back in the 1910s, when the first lady played it at a social event, per Wikipedia:

The song caused a minor scandal when the First Lady of Brazil, Nair de Teffé, performed it on guitar in public in 1914.[1][3] Catulo da Paixão Cearense's interpretations were successful and, in 1914, they encouraged Nair de Tefé to organize a recital to launch Corta Jaca, although Nair knew Chiquinha's songs, they never met in person. There were criticisms of the government and resounding comments about the "scandals" in the palace for promoting and disseminating songs whose origins were in lewd and vulgar dances, according to the conception of the social elite.[5]

I didn't get to play it in the dream, but I spent my morning thinking about what exactly the rules and gameplay would be like
