In the modern sense, it is used to describe communists who are authoritarian-apologists.

When I first wondered “wtf is a ‘tankie’?” I was lucky enough to find a source that defined the term in a similar way. Still, I appreciate the verification, and you’re right - it’s often used incorrectly.

This is like when a caveman realized his cave wife had another hole

I bet this is good with maple syrup

Currently, these separate comments appear next to each other for me, and I absolutely love it

Probably very, very few, or none. I know from a small amount of personal conversations, though, that there are quite a few lifelong Republicans who have absolutely had it with Trump. I don’t think they could bring themselves to vote for Biden, however. They’d just skip voting for President altogether.

I shouldn’t be President either. I’d be like “someone on Lemmy made a really thoughtful post. They should probably be a cabinet member!”

Ad Astra per Aspera is easily among my favorite episodes of any Star Trek series.

It would be hilarious if he pardoned him the day he started his second term (not the day after the election, but the day he actually started his term).

Won’t happen, but it’s fun to dream.

Ooh, that’s good. I’ll update my vocabulary, the way I did when I started referring to people as “pro birth”, because they certainly don’t deserve to be called “pro life”.

Every single generation has thought this about the younger generation. Every single one.

I think you’re right. My guess is that as companies get greedier and work offers fewer and fewer benefits, people are less and less willing to work as hard as their parents did. Employers that don’t understand this are either genuinely ignorant or just pretending to be ignorant.

This map is a good reminder of how insignificant international borders can be.

Eh, why not? This is something Anon can try without any long-term consequences (besides STIs, possibly). They might even find a career.

Well, this just got less insidious.
