Hear me out, I installed WSA, which creates its own network on your machine. I installed a VPN and a P2P app, tested if my IP address is somehow leaking, and now I can seed and peer on an Android VM. Asking the community: is this dumb or a good idea? It works, and I even tested a torrent connection check to see if the VPN works. So, on my Windows machine, I can still use my normal or a different connection.

I’m going to use a dlc unlocker (specifically one of FitGirl's repack) for The Sims 4 because of how stupidly expensive it is, but I’m wondering if I need to install the unlocker on both my laptop and PC as I use both to play the game. Do you only need to use the unlocker on one system or for each computer that has the game on it?

My previous ISP never once sent me a DCMA notice letter. I've recently moved house and got a new ISP, I knew there was a chance my new ISP wouldn't be so friendly with torrents, so I started using ProtonVPN's free tier, which was great at first but it seems at some point they've changed their policy to not allow torrenting on their free tier. I didn't notice this and sure enough I've received a threatening letter from my new ISP.

I've ended up paying for a VPN for the moment. I know there's other options such as Torrent boxes and foreign VPS, but they all generally require a monthly fee. Does anyone have any free solutions to this problem? Or am I going to have to bite the bullet and pay for a VPN from now on?

I don't know if this is the best sub to ask but I'm struggling with downloading a documentary from ABC with YT-DLP. I was using it with a GUI so maybe that had something to do with it. I started the download and I got to about 3+ GB on file size. I was watching the files (*.mp4, *.mp4.part, etc) in my download folder. As it completed, the files disappeared and I was left with just a 20-30MB .m4a audio file.

Any thoughts or help on getting the whole video? Is the GUI using the wrong CLI options/arguments in the background?

I really like this magazine but the subscription is hella expensive, I used to bypass the paywall by turning my wifi off and re-uploading the page, but now that doesn't work any more. When I was just a little kid I used to watch this Playmobil movie about a pirate island often, and it was kind of like an "pick your own path" (IIRC at a certain point it would pause the movie and you'd have to pick a path for the movie to continue in). I found this movie on HDO Box on my Android TV, but is HDO Box capable of playing those "interactive" movies? Or is it just going to show one path/maybe all paths?

So I know utorrent is universally hated around these parts but it’s my client of choice coz of certain features the others don’t have. I’ve customised it to show no ads whatsoever but every once in a while it’ll update itself, undoing all my “advanced settings” in Preferences and reverting to its scummy old self.

Is there any way to stop it from updating itself ever?
