Extinct piece. (feddit.uk)
submitted 1 month ago by ianovic69@feddit.uk to c/grasweeti@slrpnk.net

This and many others taken over the years around Digbeth, Birmingham UK, no longer exist.

They usually stay for a good long while but eventually another event takes place and a new one goes up.

They are almost never defaced but sometimes the locations become unavailable due to being demolished etc. It's all Victorian era and much is changing in the area, not least because of HS2.

I have the usual online photo storage and I get those memory notifications, and sometimes they include one of these. If it's ok, I'd like to share them here for a kind of posterity. I would occasionally put them on Reddit but as I've found this place now I'd rather it be here.

Thanks.

Three artists from art collective Creative Debuts have defended a mural it painted on a house in Ilford, England, paying tribute to Palestinian journalists amid calls for its removal from UK Lawyers for Israel.

Alia Shaikh, who owns and lives in the house, said she personally commissioned the piece because she otherwise “felt powerless” about the ongoing atrocities. She said "They’re heroes. Without them, we’d have no idea what’s happening.”

A mural that appeared overnight on a residential building in north London is the work of Banksy, the anonymous street artist has confirmed.

The artist claimed the work as his own in an Instagram post on Monday, following a morning of speculation after it was spotted on Hornsey Road in Finsbury Park.

The mural is painted on a wall that sits behind a tree as the viewer looks south-east down Hornsey Road.

It features a lifesize depiction of a woman holding a pressure washer, having apparently sprayed green paint up the side of a block of flats. Viewed with the tree in the foreground and centred on the wall, the green paint mimics the foliage of the plant, which has been cut back in a process known as pollarding.
