So if you're ~~severely deranged~~ a cool motherfucker you might already be aware of this, but Orange Book film adaptation
This was a jumpscare when I first heard of it, because according to Ada Rook (!!!) herself, from whom I first heard of it on twitter or w/e, she got an offer to be in it or something, and turned it down because she was busy playing Final Fantasy VII remake. Incredible. I guess my dreamworld where Rook plays Maria Griffiths can't happen, she's probably too short anyway tbh.
I kind of expect that it's shitcanned already, because the Detransition, Baby TV thing got canned after announcement, and an alleged Manhunt TV series never even got announced at all. I don't think these executives know what they're doing really, greenlighting these "bestselling" Trans A Novels. I'm guessing each time this happens, some marketer looks at the source material and their eyes bug out of their heads or some shit. Very odd little trend.
I dunno if they could actually make a good Orange Book movie honestly, a large part of me expects that they would give it a happy ending where everyone grows as people, or something stupid. Also though I am desperate to see the bits where James H talks about genderbender forcefemme erotica onscreen, purely for comedy value.
The very idea of a Nevada movie fills me with a deep and incredible dread at how it would be executed
Trans cinena has been messy for decades so it's hard to be excited at any rumblings lol I just expect the worst..
People are too wrapped up in the spectacle of trans misery so happier or fun trans stories![emoji no-fun-allowed no-fun-allowed](https://hexbear.net/pictrs/image/c7c96953-3c20-4501-8899-44336173c67d.png)
It can be a bit grim with the novels too, why I enjoy searching out the weird and fun ones specifically.
Probably really badly :^) they did at least get a famed(?) cisn't director for it, but yeeeeeah...
I donβt have anything else to say, but for some reason I hate when a happy ending is contrived and sometimes when thereβs no happy ending.
I like sad or unhappy endings. Depends on what the story has to tell. Forced happy endings would be the only thing I take issue with.
I like stuff like Watership down and Plague Dogs for instance, but I kmow some don't.
I agree, a lot of stories can have good endings that arenβt happy. Say, perfume or Frankenstein.
There's a lot but a lot of americans are cowards who don't like ambiguity or unhappy endings.. I blame disney but it's fairly common
I watched/read a lot of Irish/British/European stuff so I'm used to grim tellings and more downbeat stories, same with extremely black comedy, americans don't really have that..
I'd be surprised if it comes out. Has been a while though sometimes it can take a decade with planning etc to finally emerge.
I also don't see Rook as Maria.. though they also didn't have anyone specific for the role.
I don't expect much from this stuff, I feel like it's monkey paw levels where you will get your wish but it won't be very good..
Yeag... but my headcanon Maria has Ramona Flowers' short black hair so that could have been cute :> Zero expectations though lmao.
Her dyed hair could be a wig tbf.. but I dunno the way films are now I'm fairly sceptical.. I do want some of the books to have adaptions but I feel they won't get much respect
It's not a good idea, it's a book so drowned in monologues and narration...
Still hoping for a Last Girl Scout TV or film series where they iron out the pacing and fatten up the character development in the second half... but both it and Unjust Depths are unadaptable politically![emoji lea-tired lea-tired](https://hexbear.net/pictrs/image/b650589f-0acf-4529-921b-b5069fb34144.png)
I know, why I think it needs to be a direct adaption so most of it on screen..
Yeah the politics would be what they would have issue with but i'd be down for post apocalypse commies hunting down vampire fash..
gommulism no TLGS adaptation![emoji powercry-1 powercry-1](https://www.hexbear.net/pictrs/image/d28768f8-4b38-45e0-821a-e570c7e5f5e5.png)
I can just imagine what a bastardised version would be like.. no thanks![emoji nyet nyet](https://www.hexbear.net/pictrs/image/74958c8c-5c07-45b7-8883-3158c275a419.png)

TLGS in Maoist Standard English lesgoooooooo
the dream........
Wait, they were planning a detransition, baby tv show? How?
A "half-hour dramedy" is how. Utterly ridiculous, did not result in anything.
Yeah it woulda been fuckin stupid, we are likely better off without![emoji snom snom](https://www.hexbear.net/pictrs/image/fd8c4439-f8f5-4875-ac27-4ddfed7d4343.gif)
