Hi all, it's whitepwrfan69, your lovely admin here at lemmy.balls. The mod team and I have been hard at work making sure that this place is fun and pleasant experience for all the users here. After days of discussion, looking through literal petabytes of data, we've decided the best course of action is to defederate from Hexbear. Although we very much believe in free speech, there are some pretty obvious dangers coming from federation with them. Let me list the top examples that me and the mod team fleshed out.

Regularly advocate for violence
They have no respect for private property
Completely filled with hopeless trolls
They have bots that spam users with aggressive links
And lastly, why the fuck is everyone named Owl?!?!?!

I joined lemmy.balls to expose myself to unbiased good faith opinions and every time I engage with hexbear people I get called a shill for empire and they post images of a pig defecating, I am not even sure what it is supposed to mean. It is a sad state of affairs that they are one of the largest instances on lemmy, they are poisoning the well with their authoritarian apologia. If it wasn't for (I don't know what to put here actually..) I would just go back to reddit.
