people generally don't care whether you're into their sport as long as you're into some sport

I still find that attitude kind of toxic, but only roughly as toxic as le enlightened Redditors looking down their noses at sportsball while going bazinga for e-sports, which in some ways have become just an accelerated version of the most toxic fandom aspects of non-e-sports.

Sports are fine, and should even be encouraged, but for fuck's sake must they be concussionball with flag-humping characteristics?

No they don't need to be US football which should clearly be abolished but folks in this thread hyperfixating on how lame American football is are kinda missing the point.

I'd prefer the greater point to be the gambling and hypermonetization characteristics of Burgerland sports culture do the most public harm of all, even moreso than the head injuries of full-contact sports.
