On one hand, I agree with you

On the other hand, Jesus Christ didn't the Middle English fad die out in like, 2013 Reddit?

And you should be glad it did. Germans didnt get so lucky.

r/ich_iel and ich_iel@feddit.org STILL think it's funny not to use english words and instead translate them literally so it sounds like complete nonsense. ("Zangendeutsch") This joke got old like 10 years ago but if you use even a single english word you will still be greeted with "Sprich Deutsch du Hurensohn" which means speak German you son of a bitch.

I just want good memes in my own language, but that community is insufferable.

/rant, sorry

Wait wait wait, that community is... real Germans, but they speak broken German as a joke? Holy shit I thought this kind of dumb was reserved to English...

Yeah they translate every English word literally as a meme. Like Facebook becomes Gesichtbuch. Personally, I find it hilarious.

every language has its own group of scoundrels

To be fair, although Zangendeutsch is commonly used for shits and giggles the reaction to English words hasn't been this way since some time after Reddit.

It evolved into an ironic !askouija@lemmy.world style complete-the-sentence thingy where everything goes.
