Mmm. Makes sense I guess, you're saying the intent of these ads is less to appeal to rep voters, but more to show dem voters that Biden is serious about codifying Roe?
I think it’s aimed at swing voters—the kind who voted for both Obama and Trump.
They’re generally lukewarm on the issues, but are attracted to candidates who seem self-assured and confident. The candidates in the debate are likely to be anything but, given their fear of saying anything that might anger Trump’s core voters—so this ad will give viewers an obvious contrast.
Well whatever the intent; I hope it works as intended. We're having a similar moment here (UK) where we have a reasonable opposition to the godawful conservative party, he's objectively a better choice yet people on the far left are convinced he's the devil and go around convincing people not to vote for him. Whereas the reality is, he has to walk a tightrope fighting media bias and can't be the Ultra Woke Leftie Warrior they want him to be.
Currently polling at 50% vs 25% though, so I have a small sliver of hope that things will change next year.
