guns
Honestly think the "queer/trans people should get fucking strapped" memes and post have more to do with the American fetishization of guns than it does actual safety.i wouldn't agree that it's mostly about that but it makes sense that there would be a good element of it in there yeah. i think it is still good advice for a lot of folks though. it's not posturing to acknowledge that armed struggle is a necessary step on the path from what we have now to true queer liberation. i think it's more about that than individual queers shooting violent homophobes in walmart or whatever. I'm not american never lived there but I can see it's an injustice that I'm not allowed own a gun while the armed forces of the bourgeoisie carry them in my country. if I could get one I would. obviously it's not for everyone and should never be portrayed as some sort of hard requirement to be a queer leftist.
You're right
It's just the "good guy with a gun" conservative talking point repurposed for lefties. It also just plays off legitimate fear and anxiety.
Probably true. Doubt individually carrying will do much. We do need community militias tho.
violence
the most carrying around a gun would do is get me attacked, overpowered AND shotNeed a crew - a posse - an army.
