Beatnik stepped down and went away after being accused by an user of grooming and harassment. FWIW the user only ever provided information that was already publicly available, and didn't produce more evidence when asked by other admins (after Beatnik had stepped down).
Since then, we've had struggle sessions over:
among others.
I think you would've been around for the transphobe purge and TC69 thought. The site culture has honestly not changed that much since then, it definitely was changing a lot in its early stages. We have a news mega where a lot of high quality discussion happens, as well as book clubs, the rest of the site is mostly for taking the piss.
But seriously, was there a Beanis struggle session I missed?
Someone got banned from badposting for beanis spam. That's all.
That just means it was good posting and not in the right forum.
Ah, ok thanks!
blight was banned for 17 hours for posting the word beanis repeatedly in the comm
amazing bit and I'm so peeved i didn't think of jt first
I would have opposed the federation between lemmygrad andnhere if Beatnik was still around. There was a lot of drama on discord between the trans userbase and Beatnik on discord back in the day that never got resolved
