ad blockers, people, I'm begging you

[–] CarbonScored@hexbear.net 38 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I was wondering why OP was subscribed to some AI watch repair/porn channel. I guess this is what ads look like, I honestly didn't get it.

[–] turmoil@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago

youtube recommendations don't only show videos from channels you're subscribed to, adblock or not. but yeah I had no idea that they slipped in "sponsored" videos into the recs now, though I'm not at all surprised

now that I'm looking at my page I can see blank spaces in my recommendation grid, I guess those are all the ads I'm not seeing lol

why would i not want to see such glorious slop on my screen?

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Sadly I'm on chrome and ublock only does so much, I still get shit as seen here.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 38 points 1 week ago

Stop using chrome

I'm on FF and YouTube's anti-adblock has made it basically impossible to use with uBlock, even leaving the adblock turned off I'm still hit with the anti-adblock message several times a day.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That shouldn't happen, even on the main Firefox. Go to UBlock and update filter lists.

[–] CarbonScored@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

Yep, update filter lists, or reinstall extension. I use Firefox and I have had 0 anti-adblock problems.

[–] SockOlm@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

really? I use floorp which is also basically firefox and I don't have any issues with uBlock/YouTube

[–] Kualdir@feddit.nl 8 points 1 week ago

Using Ecosia and just switched to Floorp a few days ago and both did not give an issue with Ublock, Privact Badger and Decenteraleyes

Here's a uBlock filter I used for a long time that helped with that. It should still work. The caveat is that it broke certain features, like anything that opened a pseudo-popup (for lack of a better phrase), such as adding thing to a playlist, unsubscribe confirmations, the share popup, etc. Not sure how to make this all one single code block, so excuse the messy formatting.

Get Freetube, automatically blocks adds.

[–] Des@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Freetube recently had a major bug is it back yet?

[–] Robert_Kennedy_Jr@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah there's a new version available.

[–] Des@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago
