Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Watching this zombie judicial system trudge along like people think it will affect anything is just so fuckinv stupid. Like literally what will it take for liberals to realize that the courts are not solving this?

the moment the govt started doing illegal, extra judicial shit, it should have taken 5 seconds for anyone with a brain to realize that the only proper response is illegal, extra judicial reprisal, because they're ignoring the fucking courts, and even if they weren't they're not going to arrest themselves

I guess everyone is still just caught up in a dreamy haze of hopium that there's a way out of civil war. But there isn't. The civil war has already started, except only one fucking side realizes and is fighting

I think liberals are able to hold on because, on occasion, judgements are actually followed. Mohsen Mahdaw was released from custody when a judge ordered it, after all. These little strategic retreats act as a pressure release, to keep people from realizing the courts are not going to save us.

Democrats have the resouces to fight on multiple fronts. They could pressure on the court side and use unjust and illegal rulings to stoke popular support forntheir own illegal reprisals, which would pressure the Trump admin into either overstepping their support, or continuing to allow the courts to mediate disputes.

Or they would if they had any sense of strategy whatsoeve

Well of course, the problem is ideological. The only way courts will have the power to actually stop the administration is if they are backed up by people power. Democrats really believe that courts have inherent powers, like magic, and that their power doesn't require mass mobilization.

If we were ever serious about checks and balances, the judiciary would have their own army, at the bare minimum.
