Activists plan more events Tuesday in New York, Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta.

The protests that roiled Los Angeles over the weekend were set to spread Tuesday across the country, as activists planned demonstrations in New York, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta and elsewhere.

Rallies protesting ICE raids and the government's immigration policies have spread across California and beyond this week. A series of so-called No Kings demonstrations are planned nationwide for Saturday.

Some 56 people were arrested in L.A. over the weekend as some 700 marines and more than 2,000 National Guard troops were deployed by Donald Trump in response to protests that began on Friday, sparking an extraordinary showdown with California Gov. Gavin Newsom and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, who strongly criticized the move as executive overreach.

USA is becoming weirder by the minute if it’s a reasonable expectation to find armor let alone a bulletproof one… these aren’t video game protagonists.

It is clear that the police are trigger happy. Armed forces are trained to kill hostiles not calm civil unrest or protect constitutional rights. Trump has opted to deploy marines as well, which are going to be very young. This is all a recipe for disaster.

In my original comment I have included a video tutorial and demonstration for a low budget, thin, light, yet highly effective bullet proof armor plate. If you are going to demonstrations in areas where the military has been deployed, make sure you protect yourself. This is even more important for those acting as medics since they quickly become prime targets in situations like this.

Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.

They sell bulletproof backpacks in the US for children, not uncommonly. Body armor has been recommended for serious protesters for a while. In 2020 numerous average people were shot by right-wing opposition at protests.

That’s soooooo dystopian… at no point this should be common.

You can just order a bullet proof vest from Amazon.

Not sure I world trust my life to it, but it's not exactly a controlled item.

There are literally 5-11's all over the country where you can buy bulletproof vests (and other gun related accessories). AmmuNation from GTA isn't a joke. It's just not a real brand name.

Yeah well that should absolutely not be normal. I’m pretty sure nowhere outside USA this is the case. Never have I needed to grab a bulletproof vest from a corner shop in 43 years… how the fuck does this becomes a first necessity item?!

2 burner phones, one for you and one for someone at home who can bail you out, no other information on either except each other's number. Edit: maybe the number of an appropriate lawyer? Not like you can just call Jared.
