On this week this niche leftist forum was first launched (its was the 24th or 25th i think) Formed from the Chapotraphouse subreddit remnants that survived the reddit ban over the calls of violence against confederate slave owners, the first admins decided to use Lemmy as its base. Originally called Chapo.chat (ChaCha) Hexbear has grown into one of the biggest instances in the lemmyverse.
In this last 5 years hexbear has survived many diffent events from numerous struggle sessions, mod clique-users conflicts, wrecker incursions from other instances and sites, this image 
, a decent amount of fedidrama with other instances and the domain crisis, we still thrive with over 5 million comments and 375k posts.
I still continue my dictatorial rule over the general megathread for now over 4 years now, this time locked in the chapo comm so it can be more easily moderated, c/indigenous has now grown to 750 subs which im very happy plus now i take care of the empoc mega which has been pretty chill so far.
I still really enjoy the fedidrama, it fun to see all the fedilibs always thinking about hexbear despide the fact that they are on defederated instances and they can ust ignore us, we live rent free on their minds

Skyrim "Historical" armor overhauls are anything but, and don't understand the setting. First of all, no diversity. "elven" or "orc" armor that is just recolored versions of the same shit. the fuck are you on? these are completely different cultures, not a simple swap of materials. everywhere in asia was using iron and steel in 1300, every culture did not look the same.Second, many of these things are ancient. Dwarven armor is like bronze age kit, and they built robots. Why in the hell would it conform to 'contemporary' armor standards as recolored lamellar! Tamriel Rebuilt and Beyond Skyrim understand old things ought to look like they come from completely different material cultures and draw specific inspirations from real world ancient cultures for these objects. Even normal skyrim's archaic objects fulfill these criteria.
Third, flattening of sophistication. For some reason a lot of amateur curmudgeons believe that plate armor represents an era-defining technology that makes any other kinds obsolete and out of place. this is literally only true for 2 centuries specifically in the europeam subcontinent. It wasn't true outside that context in that time, and it wasn't before or since. The ancient Cataphract utilized full-body, partially plated technology. The Classic Muscle-Cuirass is a plate armor. When full plate garnitures roamed europe, hundreds of thousands of soldiers were equipped with brigandines in China. Mirror-Plated-Mails proliferated from Poland to Japan.
If Steel Plate Armor or that Ebony plate exist in Skyrim, it doesn't actually mean everyone else is wearing anachronistic kit. it means, like it always did, that they weren't rich warrior elites.
And don't even get me started on the dark elves!
