Can't say I'm a fan of a country-specific holiday being featured like this in an intentionally neutral and international instance. Would have much preferred to see something for the trans day of remembrance.

Well I'm the owner of lemmy.world, and I'm Dutch. But still I know what Thanksgiving is, and many users are from the US, so why not?

But I do agree we should also feature days like the Trans day of Remembrance. Maybe we could create a community-created list of special days?

It's not really a neutral international instance though. Try posting non-US news to !news@lemmy.world and see what happens.

Well that's some high grade bullshit. "The World’s Internet Frontpage".

It'll go unnoticed, but I think it's appropriate to remind Americans that theyre co-opting terms like "news" to mean "American news".
