Blas Roca Calederio, born on July 22 in 1908, was a Cuban communist revolutionary and radical journalist. Roca helped lead the 1933 general strike that ousted Gerardo Machado, and served in Fidel Castro's revolutionary government.
Born into a poor family, Roca began working at age eleven, shining shoes. According to Castro, Roca was already a prominent communist organizer in the province of Oriente at 21 years old.
At age 25, Roca helped lead a two week general strike that ousted dictator Gerardo Machado. By 1936, he was head of the Cuban Communist Party and began serving as a politican, helping author the 1940 Cuban Constitution.
Under Roca's leadership, Cuban communists were instrumental in providing an organizational and ideological structure for Castro's revolution, as well as playing a pivotal role using the party's long-standing ties with the Soviet Union to promote increasingly closer ties during the early days of the revolution.
In 1961, Blas Roca, leading a party delegation, presented a Cuban flag to Nikita Khrushchev during a meeting of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Roca served on the first central committee and politburo of the new Communist Party of Cuba, founded in 1965.

Dunno if people might be sensitive about this but just in case
CW: talking about fly swatting
Holy shit after spending one day in my parents' kitchen/living room I am now radicalized against flies. I myself live in the attic under a tall roof, there's probably dozens of spiders in all the nooks and crannies up there so flies never last long at my place. But here at my parents' it's like a biblical plague. And it's not filthy or messy or anything, they have a cleaning lady who comes and cleans the entire place every single week. But over the course of today I killed no less than THIRTY-FOUR FUCKING FLIES and I still hear buzzing as I'm typing this. I had reservations at first but that went away after fly #12 or so. This is absolute insanity.
Edit: Huge shoutout to spiders. They make no noise. They stay out of your way. They reliably kill all the annoying bugs. Absolute MVPs.
Edit 2: thirty-five
if there are that many flies then there is like some problem here, either standing water or drains they're breeding in or like open food or something. They can't just come from nowhere and live on nothing
I agree, this isn't normal. I took out the trash now, maybe they were in there.
Are they fruit flies? those suckers will breed in the sink drain.
I've been meaning to steal a larger number of chameleons to deal with the much mroe mild fly problem I'm having, but I don't actually knoiw where chameleons live.
nope, house flies
If they're fruit flies pour some bleach down all the drains in the home
Id recommend using boiling water instead of bleach incase the bleach mixes with something
This is normal for mainland Australia. Everyone talks about all the deadly animals in Australia but nobody mentions the flies. Its enough to make you go coocoo-bananas. They sell head nets in impulse buy racks at the checkout in grocery stores and petrol stations.
