That makes him a Sad Panda.

I was going to ask if he was related to Sexual Harassment Panda. But your comment was better.

I wonder what the people who support "Sedition Panda" have to say about the "litter boxes in schools" nonsense. I bet they believed it and thought it was horrifying.

It is so weird seeing that story come back around again. The first time I heard it was something like 15 years ago and it was nonsense then, too. Now conservatives flaunt it like it's some kind of new bombshell. Nope, just as fake now as it was then.

I once met a guy in a guitar shop telling me about the "litter boxes" in the class room of a local high school. I was working as a substitute teacher at the time while I finished my master's thesis. I told him that I work at that school regularly and could confirm that it was a facebook shitpost and not even remotely grounded in reality.

He walked out of that store still 100% convinced that our local high school just had students casually pooping in the corner during class.

I mean sure, we still had students pooping in the corner during class, but it had nothing to do with litter boxes. It was very much motivated by how much they hated that particular science teacher, and there was absolutely nothing casual about it.

I recently has a coworker try to make that claim. I asked him specifically what school had litter boxes in the classroom and of course he didn't know.

there are uncountable number of photos of Facebook, probably a billion taken every single day by people. Not a single photo of one of these classroom litterboxes, though. Yet they believe it with no evidence. Why? because it speaks directly to their biases. They WANT to believe that they exist, because it makes them feel VERY superior, and makes them feel even more right about everything else they think.

Evil succeeds when it speaks to a person's biases. We are all prone to it; be vigilant.

While I take your point, a quick search reveals that:

Giant pandas are not latrine-using animals – they urinate and defecate wherever they happen to be and whatever they happen to be doing at the moment.

So the litter boxes in schools wouldn't help this dirtbag and the poor janitorial staff will be stuck cleaning his shit off the floors.

Kind of weird they're letting him remain at large, but it'll be nice to see his sentencing with six convictions.

Does anyone paying closer attention know if the convictions are going from least to most severe?

Is there any kind of organization to the prosecutions?

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Generally they go least to most severe.

Nichols said Friday that the evidence showed Rumson "repeatedly rushing towards the police" before Rumson assaulted Ainsworth, saying the evidence of the assault was "crystal clear" and calling some of the arguments from Rumson and his lawyer "absurd." Rumson claimed during his testimony that he didn't realize the Capitol building was restricted until he was inside, even though evidence showed he jumped over a railing and joined the mob surging inside seconds after a window on the door was smashed out by cane-wielding Jan. 6 rioter William Bierbrodt, who has since died. Rumson ended up in handcuffs inside the Capitol and lost his panda head and backpack, but was freed from his handcuffs by other members of the mob once he got outside.

While outside the building, Rumson yelled "get a ram!" as rioters smashed a window, video evidence at trial showed; he claimed at trial he "could not fathom" saying that. He admitted that he made contact with Ainworth's helmet but claimed it was accidental. He offered no logical explanation for why he rushed at police again and again.
