  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Unfortunately there are a lot of people that will see this as a "chad'' move.

[–] Xenxs@lemm.ee 127 points 1 year ago

Haha what a fucking loser.

[–] AllonzeeLV@lemmy.world 107 points 1 year ago (4 children)

I honestly think using twitter is a mark against someone at this point.

[–] Hiccup@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I actually like how several businesses I know are no longer touching or using that hellscape. Hell or Twitter is where nazis go.

[–] Uniquitous@lemmy.one 14 points 1 year ago

Absolutely. For a while I had sympathy for people who used it as their main business platform, but they've had time to adapt by now.

[–] nutbiggums@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago

Like when they are wearing MAGA gear

It’s still the best place for breaking Sports news so until the beat writers move off I’m gonna keep lurking.

[–] ShakeThatYam@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You're being downvoted but this is very true. And Twitter has sometimes made it difficult to see those Tweets when you don't have an account.

A number of sports journalists have joined Threads though. I don't care for Meta, but I'm still rooting for Threads as an alternative to Twitter so there would be a less scummy way to get sports updates.

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

No reason Threads won’t become as scummy, if not more so. Why not root for Mastodon instead?

[–] AnxiousOtter@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I'm rooting for mastadon, but I'm also practical. User adoption is an important criteria and due to Mastadon's decentralized nature, it will always struggle against centralized services like Threads and Twitter.

I root for Threads because Muskrat is a piece of shit and I'd be delighted if his haphazard business venture failed. I never thought I'd say this about anyone, but Elon makes Zucky seem likable by comparison.

[–] ShakeThatYam@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago

Because I don't think people like Woj are ever coming to Mastodon. I use Mastodon, but it is largely tech people.

Hey Tesla auto workers, I’m so sorry to hear that every single one of you suddenly came down sick for the foreseeable future. I hope you get better precisely when the UAW strike is resolved!

[–] Rottcodd@kbin.social 70 points 1 year ago

It's to the point that he might actually have benefitted the UAW by doing this.

It might well have reached the point that he's so widely recognized as a shallow, childish, fatuous, vindictive douchebag that he's a sort of reverse bellwether - his opposition to someone or something actually leads to increased overall support and his support leads to increased overall opposition.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 62 points 1 year ago

Oh no! Musk did a naughty on his White Supremacy social media.

[–] kitsuneofinari@yiffit.net 49 points 1 year ago

Union busting jackass...

[–] ViewSonik@lemmy.world 46 points 1 year ago

Elon is a piece of shit.

[–] athos77@kbin.social 40 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It'd be interesting to see what Twitter/X's terms of service contract says about buying the blue checkmark (I can't be bothered to spend time on it). I'm sure there's something like "we can strip your checkmark if you don't pay us, if you maliciously impersonate someone, etc", but I can't imagine them having a clause saying "we can strip you of your checkmark if our racist narcissist CEO has a hissy fit, so there!" I'd love for UAW to sue X and Musk over their $8 checkmark, win, and then walk away from X and Musk.

[–] instamat@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago

There’s probably a vague bullet point at the end, like on job descriptions. “Other duties as necessary.”

[–] breckenedge@lemmy.world 31 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Fucking hell Lemmy is full of people who only read headlines. Worse here then Reddit.

Twitter’s verification policy temporarily removes verification from accounts that change profile pictures, which the UAW did in conjunction with the walkout.

The headline seems intentionally misleading

[–] mibo80@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

no that totally makes sense cuz in the past when I changed my picture no one knew it was me even when my handle stayed the same. there was literally know way of knowing who I was so how could I possibly be verified, ya know? so, I get it the UAW, the - largest automotive workers union in the world which, has been currently announcing they'll be striking, forgot they couldn't do that as part of the TOS, I guess. I mean it's not like Muks has full control and does whatever he wants anyway.

[–] Ertebolle@kbin.social 28 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Does he think, like, anybody at all actually gives a fuck?

[–] zzzz@lemmy.world 36 points 1 year ago

Look at it this way, this could have been a headline about the issues the union is striking over. Instead, it's a headline about a billionaire playing with internet checkmarks.

[–] sndmn@lemmy.ca 19 points 1 year ago

What a small, pathetic little man..

[–] muertinez@lemm.ee 16 points 1 year ago

oh nooo not my twitter verifactionnnnnn

[–] HuddaBudda@kbin.social 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Just as a reminder, if Nazism wasn't allowed on twitter, then Elon Musk would have to ban free speech like this.

Edit: Satire folks

[–] JustZ@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why are you insulting fat people by associating them with him?

Or cowards?

Or pieces of shit?

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

How petty of him.

[–] MaxPow3r11@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Elon Musk is such a fuck.

[–] GrayBackgroundMusic@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Anyone know how to get around the paywall?

[–] Uniquitous@lemmy.one 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I didn't notice a paywall, but 12ft.io is pretty good at getting around them.

[–] mtchristo@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Well deserved. why make yourself self a prisonner when you have the freedom to move to a better alternative
