Or rock music, or Dungeon & Dragons, or Anime... same shit, different generation. They are kings of scapegoats.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

one might say "cancel culture"

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 5 months ago

It's almost as if prejudice against groups doesn't need facts to back it up!

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 90 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Morris told the Christian Post he received counseling and had since “walked in purity and accountability in this area”.

It kind of seems like accountability for that should involve a criminal record.

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 5 months ago

When people try eating the rich, they can at least follow up with "walking in purity and accountability" after. It might just help.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 12 points 5 months ago (2 children)

"... in this area" seems like weasel words. Oh, and in what areas have you not "walked in purity and accountability?"

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 7 points 5 months ago

Probably most

I’ve skateboarded in seemliness and responsibility before. I just don’t talk about it much.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

Yeah I didn’t make it past that part. Just started power-barfing

[–] qooqie@lemmy.world 41 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

There’s no way in fuck this guy “didn’t know she was 12 at the time.” People who are in college even look underage to me now and this guy raped a prepubescent non-teen

[–] kescusay@lemmy.world 40 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It's always the people you must suspect. I mean, seriously, the guy legit looks like a sexual abuser.

[–] MeekerThanBeaker@lemmy.world 36 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I'm sorry. Can you be more specific? Which of the two are you talking about?

[–] Nurse_Robot@lemmy.world 41 points 5 months ago
[–] lechatron 23 points 5 months ago

One admitted it, and one has been convicted of it, so both.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 23 points 5 months ago (1 children)

At this point it feels like a history of sexual abuse is REQUIRED to be involved in the Conservative parts of “Christiandom”.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago

Well it took y’all long enough to figure it out.

[–] too_high_for_this@lemmy.world 19 points 5 months ago (1 children)

“In March of 1987, this situation was brought to light, and it was confessed and repented of. I submitted myself to the Elders of Shady Grove Church and the young lady’s father. They asked me to step out of ministry and receive counseling and freedom ministry, which I did.”

What the fuck

Like, what in the actual fuck

"People found out I raped a child but her dad said it was kinda chill"

[–] PancakeTrebuchet@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Turning him in would have meant harming the church, and we can't have that. It's a key component of the illusion.

[–] Blackout@kbin.run 18 points 5 months ago

Birds of a feather...

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 10 points 5 months ago

People around him became suspicious when he was singing a song called “It’s no good diddling kids”

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 6 points 5 months ago

From the “no shit” file.
