"Could be the ratchet effect. Lemmygrad and Hexbear are both explicitly Marxist-Leninist, but .ml is explicitly FOSS and Privacy based, just with Marxist-Leninist admins."

This was back when I tried to get PugJesus to try to understand how deeply unserious they were, and generally tried to appear less threatening to liberals to hopefully lead some to question liberalism or even read theory

(Spoiler: it didn't work)

Specifically, it was in reference to Lemmy.world becoming more and more right-wing as the target boogeyman shifts from more overt to less overt leftism, especially since ml removed leftist from its description.

Kinda funny seeing it up there now that I've made a Hexbear account

Getting a tagline is Hexbear poster Valhalla

I have a few from the original tagline thread right after the site opened and another one from just posting good

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Nice! Love the taglines, a lot are really funny

[–] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

^ Lol make this a tagline

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

i have a couple, one that i remember most is referring to hexbear as pink news but pinkoer after we had a time period where we posted like... only lgbt news/stuff for a couple of days

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

How does someone spend so much time just making or finding such shit memes.

Or just not understand anything

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 16 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (2 children)

Basically the Jeff Tiedrich of Lemmy. Insufferable liberalism.

Fun fact: dig through the linked thread if you can, and PugJesus even claims to have read Lenin, yet in other threads can't help themselves from denouncing even the Black Panthers for being ML.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

At least Jeff has rare funny moments

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Fair, I do love a good Jeff tweet. PugJesus is basically a dedicated left-puncher while Jeff punches Trump at least. PugJesus is non-stop annoying, while Jeff is just cringe in the way liberals are.

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago

Nobody hates leftists more than PJ here, not even the genuine fascists seem to put as much of an effort into left punching

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I shudder at the idea of seeing one of mine taglined. All the comments I've made that people reply "tagline" to are the most intensely autistic things I post.

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

Yea, I personally think I've written far better lines than this one, haha, but it is what it is.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

One of my gags is on one of the sidebar for a board

I'm very proud of anti-nautilism

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

lol I just noticed that the other day, congrats

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I've written so many bangers, so much unhinged shit, yet none of it has been made a tagline. I can only assume this is because hexbear is a psyop specifically made to make me a little bit frustrated

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I think it's precisely because I often say less than entirely based shit on my .ml account to soften my anti-liberalism for liberals, in the hopes that they may actually read theory, that this one got the tagline. Like, of course lemmy.ml is going to have MLs, lol

It's like in Dune, trying to go slower so the defenses don't pick it up and I can land a strike

[–] roux@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

Same, comrade meow-hug same.

[–] jimmyjohnsandwichsix@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I hope one day to get a tagline

[–] Aradina@lemmy.ml 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I hope I don't. That'd be so terrible, I'd just be so mad

[–] PointAndClique@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

I got taglined and I was like lmao they wemt with that one?

[–] roux@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I was really hoping my "having your comment become a tagline is bourgeois decadence" would surely have made it. I was even prepare for a "Witness me!" bit with silver spray paint and everything.

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That one's good! I have some I think are zingers, like "Communism is when everyone passes around a single copy of Capital and gets temporarily posessed by the Spectre of Communism, and gets to say "it's me, the Communist"

[–] roux@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I am going to use "It's me, the Communist" now lol.

Hell yea comrade

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Just saw "having your comment become a tagline is bourgeois decadence" in the taglines, bring out the silver spray paint!

Also saw I have a second tagline, time to line me up against the wall

[–] roux@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Holy shit lol gonna refresh the page religiously now. I actually just bought a deck of Mad Max inspired playing cards this morning. I would say what are the odds but I'm sort of balls deep in Mad Max lore and such since the Autism Gods decided that would be my next current obsession.

Since I "own my own business" I think I'm allowed a little bourgeois treat here and there.

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

Those are wild odds, haha. Didn't realize Mad Max had deep lore, that's interesting!

[–] roux@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Also probably not really crazy considering my other interest I'm trying to get into is cardisty/shuffling as a fidget/hobby lol.

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Cardistry looks awesome, but no way am I coordinated enough for that.

As for lore, I have always been obsessed with Fallout, but via ADHD. Never have I loved and hated a franchise more than that, haha

[–] roux@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I've messed around a bit with begleri and butterfly knives and started doing it deliberately because I'm not that coordinated and wanted to try to improve. I have shit motor skills in general lol. Cardistry is just my next step in "maybe I can do that".

I almost picked up Fallout 3 and New Vegas over the summer sale and maybe even talked with you about them but ultimately chose not to because modding those games on Linux is broke af. I think I may eventually go ahead and grab them and go without mods though. I'm interested in the lore but don't know anything about it. I think apocalyptic lore/world building in general is fascinating.

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

We did talk, I remember that! Modding on Linux is in a better state last I ventured, I've done it a few times.

[–] roux@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Mad Max's lore is kind of weird because Miller retconned some of it by referencing modern current era tech and politicians in Fury Road which sort of broke the movies into a soft reboot of sorts, but I'm fan-brained and am sticking to the tall tale/unreliable narrative angle that shoehorns the new movies into the older ones. The main historical lore of oil crisis > resource crisis > law and order breaking down still works. Just gotta squint at some of the stuff like Immortan Joe using more modern circuitry for his breathing machine and such or that Tom Hardy's version of Mad Max is supposed to be in his 70s or early 80s. The age thing can also be marked up to tall tale/unreliable narrative too. Basically the History Men might be retelling the tale and they don't have all their info correct. /ramble

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I always saw the concept framed by others as a campfire, folk-hero tale.

[–] roux@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

Yeah that's the angle I've adopted too. It makes it all fit together easier without having to finagle too much.

[–] Black_Mald_Futures@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago

there's a few of mine that always give me a good laugh

[–] FearsomeJoeandmac@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

I have one I think.. it's the rude little dog turd one

[–] Grownbravy@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

It’d be nice if one of mine were a tagline, but also, i like the obscurity
