While Mr. Biden and his team publicly insist that he is staying in the race, privately people close to him have said that he is increasingly accepting that he may not be able to, and some have begun discussing dates and venues for a possible announcement that he is stepping aside.

One factor that may stretch out a decision: Advisers believe that Mr. Biden would not want to do it before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel visits Washington on Wednesday at the initiative of Republicans to address Congress, unwilling to give the premier the satisfaction given their strained relations lately over the Gaza war.

Look, if you had one shot or one opportunity
To give bibi a life-threatening disease in one moment
Would you capture it or just let it slip?

Critical support to Biden if true

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 14 points 4 months ago

Especially if he gets it to republican leadership/congress

If I was a vindictive lame duck, I'd drop out on the day of the speech to upstage him and then spend the rest of my term screwing with the lobby as much as I possibly could. He doesn't have the spine or conviction to do it though.

They should simply hand him over to the ICC

[–] alvvayson@lemmy.dbzer0.com 33 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Biden could do that with his executive power.

But the depressing thing is, they are probably going to replace Biden with the most Zionist Democrat they can find.

AIPAC will ensure it.

Anyone know how zionist mamala is?

[–] alvvayson@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I don't think she is much different than Biden, but AOC says they're gonna push Kamala out.

Man it's hilarious to see her fall

[–] Biggay@hexbear.net 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

there was one article that alluded to her being much more standoffish with the israelis, so probably able to actually make israel kind of stop?

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago

The reality of the situation is that the US doesn't have all that much leverage against the Israelis. If we cut them off completely (and we should), it's unlikely that Likud's murderous policy would change in any way.

And while they're at it, why not hand over Trump for his support of the Saudis' genocide against Yemen, the family separation policy, and the hundreds of thousands of covid deaths caused by his malice, corruption and deliberate goal of withholding aid from Democrat-voting areas?

[–] flan@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago

i dont think trump has an arrest warrant out for him.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 37 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Biden is a zionist who 100% supports everything Netanyahu is doing

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

And what do you think Trump is? Trump would be vocally cheerleading the genocide instead of spinelessly quibbling with the Israelis over details of who gets massacred and when.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago

What about Trump???? He'd genocide more and be rude while he did it!!!!! Bet you didn't think about that tankie smuglord

Yeah Trump's bad too, so?

Look, he's not gonna drop out. He'll keep teasing the possibility but in november if he's kickin' he's gonna be on the ticket.

How do i know this rather than just think it? 30 shame-filled years of mistreatment as a registered Democrat.

[–] Tom742@hexbear.net 14 points 4 months ago

Kick it or ticket

brump

[–] roux@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

30 shame-filled years of mistreatment as a registered Democrat.

I just got "kicked out" of my position as the secretary for our local Dem club and I can say with actual authority that they are fucking rabid to keep that dementia riddled corpse on the ticket.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Well, he just dropped out.

[–] roux@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago

Yeah I was just saying in another post that I am considering going to their meeting tomorrow night to see how they are holding up lol.

[–] crosswind@hexbear.net 8 points 4 months ago

Every day he doesn't drop out strengthens the argument of "it's too late, it would cause too much chaos" so he would be stupid not to string everyone along as long as he can

[–] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Biden does not seem to be in a physical state where he can guarantee that he will not "drop out", so to speak, at any time in the near future.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago

I'm going to set up a bet on whether Trump or Biden dies first. My money's on Trump.

I'd also lay some heavy odds on Trump getting a dementia diagnosis before Biden, but that outcome can be biased by extreme likelihood that Trump's camp would just lie about it.

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I hate this term, but Biden really is a cuck.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago

Hate it a bit more, maybe then you'll stop using it.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago

And Biden has dropped out.
