It gets more involved and there are some actiony elements but the core gameplay loop is the same.

So should I play Horizon Forbidden West instead of this? I don't like tedious shit.

I'm just going through sony exclusives in my ps plus catalogue right now

The game "gets better" as you adjust to the tedium. It's a "you must imagine sisyphus happy" simulator.

I get that people have different tastes in games, but that's a funny "not tedious" game to play instead of Death Stranding lol

I don't get you. There's more exploration than running deliveries back and forth and falling on my ass every 5 seconds. Other biomes than "Welsh and scottish moors, but in america"

You a Death Stranding fanboy?

[–] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Death Stranding is more focused on the environment and exploration - it's just a slower game and doesn't have bright yellow markers telling you where to go

Death stranding is about falling on your ass every 5 seconds and listening to a baby cry through the ps5s controller speaker.

I don't mind no Direction, Demon Souls remake and bloodborne are my favorite sony exclusives.

I gave stranding a chance and it's boring IMO.

I think they're trying to point out that both Death Stranding and Horizon Forbidden West are basically the same Ubisoft-style open-world slop. Don't expect much other than a giant world and tons of the same crap to do over and over.

I'm also a fan of Horizon Zero Dawn. Forbidden West was a downgrade. It was just more of the same, but now Aloy won't STFU and she literally spoils puzzles for you.

lol death stranding is one of the only good pc AAAs of the decade. it's a piece of art. putting it on the same level as Ubisoft slop is such an insult and completely mischaracterises the work even if it's not for you personally.

[–] knightly@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

Probably, yeah.

It's a very zen experience where you are best throwing on a podcast and zoning out

[–] FearsomeJoeandmac@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's not a huge loss to me. It's free with my ps plus subscription. If it stays boring I'll just delete it and move on

Kojima stared at a picture of Mads Mikkelsen for hours making this game and I think that really sums up the point of the project where we pay him to hang out with movie stars

No shade thrown I just wish it was a good game in addition to that

[–] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's a good game, but it has a super niche audience. You either like it or don't shrug-outta-hecks

It seems kind of Dark Souls-y where you have to a bunch of strange lateral stuff in the game for multiplayer and other gameplay, and spend an inordinate amount of time figuring out mechanics to enjoy it outside the main missions? But then that's the recommended serving suggestion? Haha

[–] peppersky@hexbear.net 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not really? The gameplay loop stays the same, you just get a steady stream of new items that trivialize it as you go along. Terrible game, don't believe the hype.

[–] FearsomeJoeandmac@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah I tried getting into it. It was Kojima slop

[–] callouscomic@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Deep into the game, near the end, there is a boss fight that is almost literally recreating a famous Metal Gear Solid 4 ending boss fight.

I'm a big Kojima fan. I had a lot of fun with Death Stranding, but it is just busy work delivering and exploring, which I found mostly entertaining. I liked the solitude. I also liked a lot of the story but holy hell I still don't understand a lot of it. Also the ending takes hours. Every time you think it's literally the end of the story, there's more.

The Conan Obrien easter eggs alone though made it all worth it. I still rattle those jokes off.

I really enjoyed the game. Went in blind on the ps5 version. I thought the controller features were incredibly immersive and the game really made walking fun to me. The second zone in general is more fun than the first but it’s probably not going to pick up till the final third.
