I wish there were less tag lines slandering hexbear. I know it's fun to joke about bad posts, but putting aggressive ones at the top of the page creates bad first impressions.

Some reactionary sites love putting posts of people calling out how awful they are in their banners. So it may be not clear if we're making fun of how absurdly wrong the post is, or if we are reveling in it.

This, and also fewer entire-ass posts would be nice. They're only funny when they're breaking the format; if there are too many, it becomes the format.

idk the fact that two of the taglines are a whole page from blackshirts and reds and an entire copypasta shitpost about living in an overturned T34 in an abandoned junkyard in Wisconsin is pretty great.

Those are definitely on the "keep" list.

As a recent convert from lemmy.world, I can't say I wasn't confused when looking for a new instance.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

.world huh? what got you to come over here? Was it just their constant bleating about us that got you curious or what?

[–] graymess@hexbear.net 17 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I just needed to get out of there. The overbearing liberal presence was bad for my mental health and I was exhausted by their constant defense of genocide. Maybe it was always like that, but it felt like it was getting much worse over the last year. I browsed other instances a bit, but Hexbear is much more in line with my political views.

Also, in case you missed it I implore you to go down this rabbit hole to see one of our finest moments and possibly the funniest thing that has ever happened.

Thank you for posting this, I had never seen this before

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

HOW DID YOU MISS THIS?!

It went on for like a whole week!

[–] LeylaLove@hexbear.net 1 points 10 months ago

I'm a fairly new poster here, only been here for about a year

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 7 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I feel that lol. This is like the only place I visit online anymore. I use twitter sometimes to keep up with world news stuff but every time I open the app I literally want to do self harm.

Glad you found your way here though comrade. It's quite cozy even if we do get in a fair few very stupid arguments, but that's what family is for right?

[–] HumanBehaviorByBjork@hexbear.net 10 points 10 months ago

i am reveling in it. i think it's funny that they hate us.

[–] PointAndClique@hexbear.net 38 points 10 months ago (1 children)

They're site taglines that just cycle through from some list that the mods don't let us play with. They're generated on browser versions too.

Lmooo everyone come in quick mods are gifting taglines

[–] atyaz@hexbear.net 37 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Love how even in this anti communist rant they still took the time to shit on Muslims a little, thanks a lot for that 👍

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 5 points 10 months ago

Plus some casual transphobia. They couldn't even keep their mask on long enough to make a post.

[–] Vampire@hexbear.net 32 points 10 months ago

Look mom I'm in the screenshot!

[–] bazingabrain@hexbear.net 31 points 10 months ago (2 children)

[–] ProfessorOwl_PhD@hexbear.net 7 points 10 months ago

*triangular Merkel

I remember that was just a shit post about the stuff hexbear finds funny and immediately became an emoji

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 30 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

They all come from comments people have made on lemmy, reddit, twitter, or basically anywhere on the internet mostly, with a few exceptions for especially melted IRL quotes and messages demanding that you specifically read theory (or one piece, but I repeat myself).

As a matter of fact I feel like adding the title of your post to the list of site taglines just for the meta lol

I do agree though that we should go through and edit them to have links to the source context but I feel like it's funnier to just have them there totally devoid of their original context.

[–] jaywalker@hexbear.net 9 points 10 months ago

Not having links to the source is proof that mods are libs

[–] vovchik_ilich@hexbear.net 17 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I do mean something peaceful, for the rest of the world. And as an European, death to Europe too.

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 15 points 10 months ago

Death to America (Not Peaceful)

[–] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 13 points 10 months ago

for a surprising number of taglines, the original post is gone (and if you're lucky, it's in the modlog).

[–] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 10 points 10 months ago

The leftist version of reddit?
