No, but see, what if a person who isn't vegan accidentally eats some vegan food and likes it?

[โ€“] flamingos@feddit.uk 19 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Hopefully they're not a cat person.

[โ€“] JohnSmith@feddit.uk 5 points 2 months ago

I see, we are going meta now.

[โ€“] esc27@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Sometimes creators can be wrong... Hello Kitty is obviously either a cat or a cat person not a human girl, GIF is not pronounced like the U.S. peanut butter brand, and Han shot first.

When the Daily Mail says anybody 'faces fierce backlash', they mean a fierce backlash that they're about to stir up.

[โ€“] smokebuddy 26 points 2 months ago

Fierce backlash - a few irrelevant people made some tweets that got like 14 favourites and half that of retweets even after being embedded in the article all day

You might think I'm being factious with that title, but no, these people are genuinely beyond parody.

Daily Mail comment section. mrmingly: "Cancel my NT membership when they started this woke madness, and know of many others who have done likewise.. I joined to support the upkeep of some magnificent estates, not the woke dogma". Uber99 in reply: "me too."

It's a recurring thing.

Right wing astroturfing groups keep trying to get control of the national trust.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/nov/06/right-leaning-group-fails-to-wrest-control-of-national-trust-from-political-takeover

If it's not vegan food, they're complaining about pride, or people explaining where all the money for these big country houses came from.

The group's actually run out of the same place as a Tory think-tank. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/jan/28/national-trust-captured-by-well-funded-fake-grassroots-group-restore-trust

My coffee is WHAT???? ๐Ÿ˜ค

[โ€“] grue@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If my coffee had to be vegan, I would be kinda upset because it means I couldn't have any dairy cream in it.

If my coffee couldn't be vegan (even served black), I would be even more upset because WTF would they be doing to it to make it inherently not-veganโ€ฝ

[โ€“] KimjongTOOILL@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Jello and marshmallows aren't vegan for WTF reasons

[โ€“] Ephera@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 months ago

Yeah, they usually contain gelatin, which is extracted from animal skins and bones.

Vegan gelling agents are available (and in fact, marshmallows originally used marshmallow roots), but I guess, gelatin is just so cheap, because it's a waste product from animal slaughter.

Same with most bread, beer, wine, apple juice, potato chips and white sugar.

[โ€“] muix@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I knew about the others, but what about bread and potato chips is not vegan?

[โ€“] superkret@feddit.org 7 points 2 months ago

Bread often contains L-Cysteine, made from hog hair or poultry feathers, as a baking aid. It is labelled as food additive E920.
Potato chips often contain whey powder, and some aromas contain animal products even if you wouldn't expect it.

So no more jello in my coffee either?

Ah sweet, this'll do a good job removing some of the arseholes from NT locations. Great stuff!

[โ€“] match@pawb.social 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

i don't know anything about this but I am now very angry that "facetious", "factious", and "fictious" are all words

[โ€“] flamingos@feddit.uk 5 points 2 months ago

This is very funny because I meant to put facetious.

[โ€“] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 1 points 2 months ago

This person clearly forgot when they tried to force their employees to wear pride lanyards, lol

[โ€“] superkret@feddit.org 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

No more bread rolls and fruit! Unless they're covered in butter! YES, the fruit, too!

[โ€“] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 11 points 2 months ago

Being judged for ordering from the vegan menu because the food looks nice is annoying

[โ€“] SplashJackson@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 months ago

Daily Mail always be capitalizing words in they titles like they never heard of a style guide or proper grammar, or as I like to call it, "Props, Gram"

Riiight? Should be the whole menu.
