All animals are much better looking than people. Just accept defeat. :) We are pink apes.

[–] burgersc12@mander.xyz 54 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Actually about half of all animals are ugly af, but we just don't post the ones that aren't beautiful, same with people.

I don't know exactly what species that is, but it must be in the family of the stabilus difusius

[–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 months ago

Yeah hippo mixed with pitbull maybe?

I think the wackos who want to own dangerous dogs try and whitewash them by calling them velvet hippos, but I might have the name wrong.

[–] Hackworth@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I think it was Perplexity. Moved to using Flux since that cuddly monstrosity.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That is the cutest dog-rhino I’ve ever seen.

~~She~~ He was born with it.

Edit: I regret the error.

Maybe it's Maybelline?

[–] HappyFrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think that's a male Rosefinch. Seems female Rosefinches are grey in color: https://ebird.org/species/comros

[–] dovahking@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

It's quite peculiar that in the animal kingdom, most of the time, it is the male that's beautiful.

[–] johannesvanderwhales@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Particularly true with birds

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago

Well, that's more true with birds. They're just FABULOUS.

I the meantime male mammals are all hunky body-builders.

Limited edition valentine's day/blossom tree day birds

[–] callyral@pawb.social 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Humans want to sing like a bird and look like a bird and humans are birds

[–] Comment105@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

Seems we've run into the "want to be != are" fallacy.

[–] mhague@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (2 children)

They're all in survival mode too. Imagine if they had their equivalent to a balanced diet, low stress, targeted exercise, and science dedicated to bringing out their all.

[–] spankinspinach@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago

No no no no no. These guys don't get a glow-up, they're already too damn pretty

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

Most animals are already living their best lives. We're just the freaks who don't like to do what we actually do.

[–] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Joke's on her, I'm colorblind.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Poor finchys face after spending all that time grooming ...

[–] idunnololz@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Don't birds spend a lot of time preening every day though?

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They also eat worms and expell waste at will.

[–] 1995ToyotaCorolla@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

They also don’t know what the internet is and sing all day

[–] aaaaace@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago

Try living outside and migrating.

[–] chemicalprophet@lemm.ee -1 points 2 months ago

The rose finch will always be prettier because it isn’t smeared with bullshit and patriarchy to try and look different.
