Yeah. It probably feels like a missed opportunity, but ask anyone who went through with it and I’m betting most of them are fucked up as a result.

I’m sure this story is true.

At 16 he was already a sweaty, fat neckbeard with a MLP t-shirt and more acne in his face than oil in the middle east.

Nobody would be a fan of my little pony in 1998, and I don't know who could grow a beard at 16, but it certainly wasn't anyone I knew Though there's certainly acne

I had a classmate with a full beard at 16. Also being able to grow some scruffy neck hair is not uncommon at that age.

Dude, that's child molestation. "Fast forward 20 years, and I didn't even realize I had the opportunity to be abducted."

[–] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 58 points 10 months ago (1 children)

At that point thats not a hint. "Oh yeah so she took her clothes off and started shaking her ass and i said nice and continued watching the movie". Also as the others saying if shes a predator she would have gone home after she get pushed away or continued trying. By the description she seemed more like someone who had something for him actually. We dont even know if she knew hownold anon was.

Still a predator. dude was a child

[–] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 25 points 10 months ago (2 children)

If she didnt know the age anon couldve easily fooled her. When i was 16 or even 15 a lot of people thought i was more like 20. Not that im defending her and it really depends on the situation.

Isn't this the same exact excuse men say when caught with a minor? It's the adult responsibility to make sure, not guess, the age of the partner

[–] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 9 points 10 months ago

In my opinion, yeah under law its the others resposibility to check but at the same time if a 16 year old is mature enough emotionally and physically that they fool other people then you cant really blame the adult. Also the whole age of consent is to protect children and a lot of people forget that so the only reason they want them to go to jail is to punish this "evil". Someone who commits a crime isnt always a bad person. Also in cases where a 20 year old dates an 80 year old or something like that, you should be protecting the old and probably not totally mentally capable and not the 20 year old who is probably using the 80 year old. But of course if i use these arguments irl people just call me a pedo so yeah.

I mean I think it’s the adults responsibility to make due diligent efforts to check, but if the minor continues to lie, is it really on the adult anymore? Unless there were glaring red flags that a reasonable person could suspect, I don’t believe the adult can be held responsible.

I have no idea how the law handles this, but from my understanding, “mens rea” (guilty mind) is required to prove criminal wrongdoing. There would be no “mens rea” proof here since the adult had to have willful intent to commit a crime.

So, you're the kinda guy asking for ID on a first date?

[–] seejur@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I mean, if I'm trying to have sex, and the guy/girl looks like underage, I would actually

trying to have sex, and the guy/girl looks like underage

No further questions, your honor.

Hell, when I was 28 there were people who thought I was 16 when I was clean shaven

[–] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 6 points 10 months ago
