I remember my old highschool friend starting to mod Civ 5 and the first thing he does is play as hitler.

I think my first civ mod was a texture upscale for Alpha Centauri.

At press time, Firaxis agreed to include Hitler as a leader as long as his players kill themselves when they lose.

Civ 7 broadened the definition of "leader" to include prominent philosophers, statesmen, or other such notable leader figures. Currently, they've already confirmed Ben Franklin and Confucius as playable leaders

That being said, there's absolutely no real reason now stopping the leader of the Germans to be Karl Marx

Leader of Russia announced as Leon Trotsky

lifelong civ head who gave up on the series by 5. then i fully embraced the paradox map games.

civ 4 had some banger mods though but i was always more into the "historical period" ones. even made some myself (for civ 2) that ended up doing ok on civfanatics.

looking back though damn those are some lib ass games. just pure Great Man Theory, philosophical idealism, and End of History vibes

lets-fucking-go

im busy learning Vicky 3 but i do get that craving to fire up Caveman to Cosmos every now and then

especially since it has that more complex political system that actually acknowledges how OP socialist policies are for population happiness/growth

and i love the whole collapse of large empires into smaller states mechanic.

In case you or anyone else isn't aware, there are game save converters for the Paradox grand strategy games which allow you to play from Imperator: Rome to Hearts of Iron III/IV. There's also a "third-party" Hearts of Iron IV to Stellaris converter.

Here's a megacampaign time-lapse example. You can find similar ones on YouTube.

Mega campaigns seem cool, but it's just too easy to blob over everything. I feel like you need some strict RP rules or something, if you're not just gonna take over he world forever

This hits a bit harder than expected. Good on them!
