I cannot wait for the old fart to fart his last fart.

[–] ouch@lemmy.world 5 points 1 hour ago

Fun fact, gut bacteria continue living for a while after the host is dead. So the last fart will be posthumous.

Blowing up the Brits is a nice olive branch, but I think we'll need more commitment if we want a lasting peace deal

[–] Weslee@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago

Please end our suffering (as a Brit)

As a Brit, I approve of this message.

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 19 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Just keep rattlin' that sabre, buddy.

Hitting London with a ballistic missile would bring the rents down. Maybe this is a good thing.

[–] hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 6 hours ago

As a bonus, London is no more

[–] r00ty@kbin.life 18 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Well it would likely put them up, seeing as it would remove supply but, if you know Londoners you'll know it won't do a damn thing about demand.

Please do it Putin. WE want the excuse, NATO wants the excuse, Poland's ~~chomping~~ champing at the bit for the excuse and we really want to see how long it takes them to rush Moscow.

Edit: damn it Lemmy, I'm an engineer not a dictionary.

[–] fan0m@lemmy.world 33 points 10 hours ago (6 children)

Pushes glasses in It’s actually “champing.”

Didn't know this, thanks!

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 7 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

How do horses "champ" at their bit?

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 20 points 10 hours ago

Exuberantly, with a shade of impetuousness

[–] Skua@kbin.earth 17 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Champ is the older spelling of chomp. They mean the same thing. At some point a shift in pronunciation occurred and spelling has reflected that, but the older version has been preserved in the phrase "champ at the bit"

WE want the excuse, NATO wants the excuse

Are you ready to enlist?

[–] capital@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

I'll go back just to fuck Putin.

Sure, with my skillset I'll be designing and building drones by the 1000s. If that is what is required to stop a tyrant from threatening Europe hand me a long brown overcoat, hat, cigarette, and FRSKY radio transmitter!

Edit: I should emphasize, I'd rather not fight if not necessary. I'd rather be in my current job creating equipment for infrastructure that will power the green energy transition.

However, I have studied history and there are times where conflict is unavoidable especially when dealing with power mad dictators. The countries of Europe deserve to live in peace to find their own paths without the threat to their borders and sovereignty. Russia itself deserves a government that works for everyone not just the dozen oligarchs in Moscow.

Oh and for the record, fuck US imperialism (though they are a NATO ally) and fuck the CCP, yes you tankies can fuck off as well.

Which is exactly why he's not going to, and everyone knows it. This is to look strong for his own domestic audience.

The threat that's actually for us is the one about arming it's own anti-Western proxies, and it did indeed make us think twice for a few months.

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 14 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Lukashenko: why are there troops with wings sprayed on their vehicles massing near my border?

[–] Blaster_M@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

THEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED

[–] LouSlash@szmer.info 16 points 10 hours ago

Poland: Just a regular training, nothing to worry about

Reminder that World War 2 had a gradual unfolding of declarations of war across several months or longer, depending on how you want to fuck that pig. I think we're already in the onset of WWIII, in some sense.

[–] r00ty@kbin.life 25 points 10 hours ago (5 children)

The thing is, if NATO is worth anything at all. Hitting a NATO country would bring a lot of declarations in a very short order. It would get very WW3, very quickly.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 14 points 10 hours ago

Same way you go bankrupt; slowly, and then all at once.

I'm not sure we're on a path to WWIII if it's Russia vs everyone else. If China decides to get involved then maybe but I don't see any evidence they're willing to throw in with Putin, same with Iran.

That's terrifying because WW3 risks the use of nuclear weapons and every model of nuclear exchange that has been run always escalates to mutual assured destruction with billions dead and the end of civilization.

I just finished listening to the audiobook of Nuclear War: A scenario by Annie Jacobsen. Highly recommend it.

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago

Civilization's kinda shit anyway. We had a ~~good~~ run.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 9 points 10 hours ago

The real slippery slopes are graded much less steeply than you'd expect

This is “threatens the uk” :

“We consider ourselves entitled to use our weapons against military facilities of those countries that allow their weapons to be used against our facilities.”

[–] palordrolap@fedia.io 7 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

"We consider ourselves entitled to use our weapons against what we say we believe to be military facilities of those countries that allow their weapons to be used against our facilities."

The important unsaid part needs to be in there. Whether an opponent actually puts military installations inside civilian locations or not (generally a bad move), this gives war criminals carte blanche to bomb whatever they feel like.
