MODERATORS

This guy is going to be nominated to head the FBI.

“We will go out and find the conspirators, not just in government but in the media. Yes, we’re going to come after the people in the media who lied about American citizens, who helped Joe Biden rig presidential elections – we’re going to come after you,” Patel said on a podcast hosted by another former Trump adviser, Steve Bannon.

“Whether it’s criminally or civilly, we’ll figure that out. But yeah, we’re putting you all on notice,” Patel added. “We’re actually going to use the Constitution to prosecute them for crimes they said we have always been guilty of but never have.”

It's worth noting that Patel is extreme as people loyal to Trump go — he seems interested in doing Trumps' bidding, rather than what's required by law or what's right.

Yeah democracy isn't gonna survive this chief. At least not for the 4 years he is in. We might be able to recover afterwards but thats a stretch as disinformation will only get worse. Sucks.

Only if Blue States don't resist and just go along with it.

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

looks at Hochul and Adams

Yeah we're fucked

[–] IDKWhatUsernametoPutHereLolol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm betting on Adams doing a quid pro quo and lift NYC's sanctuary city status if trump tells the DoJ to drop charges against Adams.

I knew Adams was a crook when I heard that he was a former cop. Not even surprised.

[–] winterayars@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The fact that the establishment Dems happily supported Adams is an embarrassment.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 6 points 2 weeks ago

Because we have a piece of shit, billionaire supporting, neoliberal party and a bat shit insane far right fascist party as our only "viable" choices in any election. It's no surprise the majority of one party are a bunch of garbage people and the entirety of the other are raging assholes.

"Democracy" in America is a fucking joke.

[–] UsernameHere@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The way so many people are shitting on democrats the GOP will keep growing in power even if they weren’t fascists.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world -3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Maybe democrats should have been less Republican if they didnt want to get shit on. You can be progressive in America. You have to.

[–] UsernameHere@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

A progressive would never win in my part of the country. But moderate democrats have.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

A progressive will win. Especially an unapologetic one. Mark my words. We can keep spiraling down the right pipeline or we can try something that will actually work. People are fed up. You get a progressive that offers change to the working class and you'll win. But go ahead and downvote me because I know I'm right.

[–] UsernameHere@lemmy.world -2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The Democratic Party has been moving further left ever since Bernie started working with them. Even with that small movement to the left voters turned out for republicans to “stop socialism”. And many progressives didn’t show up to vote because Harris wasnt far enough left.

The majority of people fear change. If the progressives aren’t willing to vote for the lesser of two evils then the larger of two evils will keep winning.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The Democratic Party has Ben moving further left.

Man I wish I lived in your reality bud. They literally paraded Republicans this election cycle.

[–] UsernameHere@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They worked with never Trumpers to get more republicans to vote democrats instead. To pretend you don’t understand that is a bad faith argument.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

And did ya see how many Republicans they turned? Less than 10%. To pretend you dont know thats a bad tactic is in itself a bad faith argument.

[–] UsernameHere@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

It didn’t work because republicans convinced voters to “stop socialism” by voting for Trump. Because Joe Biden’s “radical leftist” policies were responsible for inflation.

If voters wanted someone more progressive then they would’ve chosen the most progressive candidate. But they didn’t.

actually going to use the Constitution

if we're gonna go there. let's get rid of the current incoming administration, because it shouldn't have even been on the ballot to begin with.

and while we're there, lets get rid of all the guns, everywhere, that aren't used by the states' 'well-regulated' militias for their defense (hint: their national guards fill that role today, along with the rest of the military forces).

and while we're rolling, we're gonna revoke tax-exempt status for every church that has advocated directly or indirectly for a candidate or ballot vote from the pulpit or with the assistance of their tax-exempt funds or assets (and we're seizing those assets, too, to help cover their tax fraud).

[–] TimeSquirrel@kbin.melroy.org 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I will never support disarming the working class and the oppressed. The church stuff sounds nice though.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

What if we disarmed the police at the same time?

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

For the most part yes but the militia bit is just wrong. The national guard does not fill the role of a militia as militia are independent of government as regular citizens.

First Amendment is deadddddddd

[–] IDKWhatUsernametoPutHereLolol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

But I thought Second Amendment protects the first 🤔

Where those folks at?

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Busy surrendering their third amendment rights of course.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah. Been violated a handful of times (eg: during LA riots) but there are almost no court cases about it

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 5 points 2 weeks ago

No that's too useful. It will be dead in practice when it's aimed at non-Reich wing media, but it will be touted by the SCOTUS as cornerstone of our dumbocracy when it's applicable to protecting that same Reich wing media.

We'll just continue to live in the same world of a multi tiered mockery of a "justice" system. They just don't need to be quiet about it anymore, they learned they can literally do whatever the fuck they want and nothing will happen to them.

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago

So are the ones who were supposed to defend it.

[–] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Honestly, the journalists who normalized Trump for the last 4 years are responsible for the mess they're about to be in. Refusing to ask Trump hard questions while making Biden and Harris answer for every rumor pushed by the right.
I won't say I'm glad to see it happening, because an attack on journalism and the press is horrifying and carries some huge future implications, but I won't deny that I feel a bit of schadenfreude about it.

He won't be prosecuting Murdoch press

He'll be prosecuting meidestouch. The only fortunate thing is that most of their journalists are also lawyers

[–] lost_faith@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

On a side note, Meidas was second most popular you tube channel beaten out by a musician (Meidas moved up 6 spots to #2, Fox dropped to 4th)

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 weeks ago

o sweet mothe' fuck. they're still going on about 2020 elections.

lets closely examine this year's first, including everything that transpired before election day.

[–] BadmanDan@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago
