So I really really like making this watery pea soup broth thing, it's like 1 lbs of dried split peas 2 gallons water ratio plus half an onion lemon, salt, pepper, and paprika. Drank like 3 mugs of it last night and it left me giggling and happy idk soup just makes me happy and I recommend this to anyone on a budget/wants soup.

On the Pinelli affair - anyone interested and in want of some entertainment should watch "Accidental Death of An Anarchist" by Dario Fo.

It's a counterinformation-comedy-farce by an ex-partisan Italian anarchist called Dario Fo. Him and his troupe used to perform it going town to town in the wake of the Pinelli affair, updating it daily so it was a sort of 'living newspaper' (when at the time actual newspaper info about it was being suppressed). The police often tried to stop them - through the use of violence, and once even kidnapping and SA'ing Fo's wife Franca Rame (who also performed in his plays).

Anyway, it's an absolute classic, and there's the English televised version from the 80's on YouTube, and the recorded version of the recent theatre revival I believe in the V+A online archives.

had a discussion with my wife about if wild figs are vegan. so if you don't know, wild figs are basically inside out flowers turned into a bulb and a mutualistic species of wasp crawls up in there to lay their eggs and dies in there. the newborns then crawl out, get covered in pollen, mate, and go to a new flower. commercial figs basically never use this method and just have artificial pollenation as it's far more consistent

like, see ofc wild figs you are eating a dead wasp in there that gets almost entirely disolved by the fig, but it's not like the wasp suffering or being used in an exploitative way is a part of the product. the wasp already lived the whole lifecycle and did it's thing, no less than if a plant consumed the nutrients of a decayed animal. and the new wasp is gone before the fig ripens as they tend to melt whatever is in there with digestive enzymes on their end of the mutualism, so you're very rarely gonna be eating a wasp larve in a fig.

anyways, figs and fig wasps are neat. pretty much every cultivar of figs has their own unique species of fig wasp
