I hope it's handcuffed by quality at least

[–] Aussiemandeus@aussie.zone 1 points 1 hour ago

If it's not "hand cuffed by law" make war stars not starwars fuck off on ruining existing titles if you don't want to play in that world

[–] djsoren19@yiffit.net 12 points 6 hours ago

The fact that they feel handcuffed at all is the issue I have with the entire Disney Star Wars run. If these were being made out of a sense of love and passion for the Star Wars universe, the lore would serve as a rich well of inspiration to draw from. It's only a problem because these are all soulless cashgrabs designed to make money first and be Star Wars second.

Rise of Skywalker was the last Star Wars property I'll ever watch. I haven't even watched the originals ever since then.

Others are free to feel differently, but Disney killed Star Wars. I'm not even angry, I don't feel anything about Star Wars anymore, aside from apathy.

I got burned out on the volume of media they're pushing out. It doesn't help that a lot of it is crap

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 1 points 1 minute ago

The animated shows were all pretty decent, some really good, but there is a lot of content.

I mean I still don't like the phantom menance. Its been back and forth with much more back. I was basically thinking the same thing though. Who cares at this point as the ip of everything disney touches is just butchered. Im pretty sure the marvel stuff was only as good as it was because of the influence of stan lee. It sickens me with all the things under thier umbrella now.

...i give the phantom menace a weekend-matinΓ©e pass for the creative sincerity behind it, then andor, rogue one, and the original trilogy: done...

...all those are fine films comprising a strong canon; it's easy-enough to ignore the rest...

So it's going to be about the Dai Bendu and the founding of the Jedi order on Ahch-To? Sith will be an actual species on the planet Korriban? We'll see Prof Huyang's early years and the discovery of Ilum, the use of proto-sabers. It will end with the founding of the first Galactic Republic.

Apologies to Mr. Mangold, but if he thinks he can create a Star Wars product in a time without existing lore, he's quite mistaken.

Ahch-To

Are they for real

[–] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 9 points 11 hours ago (3 children)

Hopefully we finally get away from Tattoine

[–] darkpanda@lemmy.ca 14 points 11 hours ago

They’ll use the totally-not-Tattooine-planet of Jakku.

[–] GreyShuck@feddit.uk 10 points 11 hours ago

IMO just as likely that the lush jungle world of Tatooine will be the test site for the planet-killing superweapon du jour.

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago

25,000 years, they could make Tattoine a lush forest planet.

[–] shath@hexbear.net 3 points 10 hours ago

but what about my blorbo

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 2 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Finally; now when a Jedee (the correct pronunciation really) is like "you can't even imagine all this force power" the heroes can karate chop the force away cause frankly the existing lore is kinda weaksauce.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 1 points 11 hours ago

yeah, it's dzsedi in the hungarian original

[–] ddash@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 11 hours ago

I hope there will be a lot of jedeeing around.
