One person "j_s_0e6b87" is already driving the price up a lot really early. 9 days to go, and already 500(as of now). Always as soon as someone overbids them, they go up. Like pretty committed already financially. Jumped the price from 425 to like 500 in one go. Other bidders clme and go, but they stay.

Of course it's playing with fire, but I kinda would love to see how much money they could waste to get "hexbear.net" of all things. I don't know what Urls usually go for, but 505 seems like a lot.

We should maybe reach out and say they can have it as long as they are open about a redirect policy

Can we find person and pay the $12?

Yeah maybe we could beg that they could put up a notice for a week or so with a redirect to the new domain, so that everyone can get informed.

Sent them this:

There has recently been a lapse in domain registration for the site hexbear.net and said domain has entered the auction phase.

This domain is currently hosting an active site with many daily users, the previous domain holder has vanished and the lapse in payment was not something the current administration team was able to rectify without their information.

Currently, the site has been redirected to chapo.chat, but losing the hexbear.net registration will pose a large security risk for users of the site as a malicious actor could MITM them.

If there is any way we could transfer domain ownership to someone affiliated with the current site's administration team, possibly paying a fine for missed payment and ending the auction it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Probably some gooner neo-nazi who wants the page to redirect to awful anti-trans shit I'd imagine

At least they are really bad at bidding and will lose a bunch of money because of it.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 25 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

ikr? We'll just move over to hexbear.chat or hexbear.welcome or hexbear.red and this dork will be out a cool thousand dollars. And I thought I was bad with money, lol

We should just let the domain lapse every couple years and get a new one just so chuds waste hundreds of bucks

[–] DerEwigeAtheist@hexbear.net 19 points 3 weeks ago

Best case: It's several nazis bidding and driving up the price for one another

Also you usually want to wait till just before the auction finishes, to not drive up the price unnecessarily. I bet he could get baited into loosing so much money.

Who has hexbear.com?

[–] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago

Let him have it and then laugh at the loser who spent all his money to own the tankies
