Alrighty. Unfortunately Toshiba won't be going ahead due to police check issue which is a shame, however 2nd place is happy to match my current salary.

All in all, a positive outcome :)

Woohoo! 🙌🏽 That's good you have an option... 2nd place is sounding promising in terms of job scope and team members I hope?

What do you call a tree that fits in your hand?

A palm tree!

Goodnight all :)

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago

What do sea monsters eat?

Fish and ships.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 12 points 2 weeks ago

To my horror I left my little foot heater on for the entire time I was at work.

So glad nothing serious happened other than maybe using more power than I should have.

Should count myself lucky.

What do you call a huge pile of cats? A meow-ntain!

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 10 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

TIL that ozito are not cheap chinese crap, but actually rebadged german einhells, which explains why my $99 hammer drill is still blasting arse after fifteen years of heavy abuse

Team fluffy is going OK. Hopefully the cat traps come in this week.

I've shared this one before. 😃

"Ding ding ding, and that is the end of round three here at the Melbourne arena. And we can see TinyBreak is getting his ass kicked here tonight, right Jeff?"

"Thats right Bill, this vs match of TinyBreak v Powershell promised to deliver, but it has not gone well today for the self proclaimed engineer"

"Correct Bill. From sketchy ChatGPT scripts, to issues importing the graph module and the outright failure of some Microsoft scripts using the AzureAD module its a bloody mess out there. Frankly, if you were TinyBreak's coach you'd be recommending he pull the plug on this fight before taking any more abuse"

🤣🤣🤣

Shout-out to my phone cover!

It's a bulky thing, and a boring colour. But boy has it saved my phone. I usually drop my phone about once a month because I'm clumsy or whatever. But this morning was the second time in the past week and both drops have been hard ones that would definitely have cracked the screen.

The screen is still good as new. This cover has been protecting my phone for over two years now. I heartily endorse it for anyone who can put up with a cover that makes the phone fatter than it already is.

Apparently the other place is going to start having paid subs “where content creators can monetize their contributions”. It seems like enshittification is finally coming.

[–] Nath@aussie.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Don't get any ideas. We don't have any money to pay for people's shitposts here. 😆

I haven't been to Ballarat in many many years. What's it like now?

It seems so much bigger and I think it has a lot of what I need in terms of moving back to Melbourne (well Victoria) and housing prices is within my budget. It also has gymnastics and other things my little one would want to continue doing so it definitely sounds appealing on paper.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago

It's a good location. It can be a little dodgy but so are other places. Everything you need is there. If you need to travel to Melbourne regularly the drive can get boring but you can always use V/Line. I go there more than the city because you can always get a park.

Home Stretch, nearly there, only 45 mins to go!

So close but yet so far....

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

but in the end, it doesnt even matter

You know what I love most about Gibson?

When I get yelled at for no reason whatsoever. And there is some real sass behind those meows

I wish my 2nd reference didn't have untreated adhd lol

Contingency plans have been made anyways. She's lovely but could do with a human size stimulant pill to keep her on track lol

Edit: all done!

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

2nd place is putting together an offer. This is the one that may have been less money, but I was firm today and said it wouldn't make sense for me to move organisations for a paycut.

They're working on it!

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

but I was firm today and said it wouldn’t make sense for me to move organisations for a paycut.

for a substantial paycut. no. But if its less work and less likely to make you wanna jump infront of a moving train then thats worth considering.

It's from the other place, so sorry in advance but... I've been trying to separate them for like 30 years and apparently you can do this....what the hell?

Installed Bumble BFF. Got a fair few matches. Last time I tried this I ended up meeting a lot of guys that weren't there for friendship.

Fingers crossed for 2nd time around!

WTF am I paying Telstra prices for (ok, Boost prices) if the damn phone wont work from Clayton to Parliament? 1 bar of 5g but completely useless.

[–] tone212_@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago

Finally sitting down to relax, long long day. I’m exhausted. I cut up a mango to boost my mood.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago

Damn. Didn’t realise season 7 of The Rookie had started back up.

Ahh it’s so good to have it back again.

Dishwasher is here!!! 🥳 picked up my leftover dw powder and rinse aid from work, Y-splitter for cold washing machine tap obtained from Bunnings (decided maybe not to risk running it off the hot water tap even though it'd be heaps cheaper - hot water is free at this joint). Somehow fiddled around and got that Y splitter in even though there's not much room to maneuvre. If there is a small leak I won't know until it's quite bad, so hopefully it's all well-sealed!

Running the first load now after a prelim test run with just water... results tbc, but the amount of space that's opened up on my benchtop without having to get my hands dirty is phenomenal 😭 I'm pleased to see that I can fit my plastic chopping board on the side. Sadly I can only fit two mugs on the top shelf, but there's enough space below. I reckon I can fit about 2-3 days worth of dishes which is great because I don't need to look at shit piling up any more!!! LIFE IS TOO SHORT FOR DISHES

photos

The top rack can be removed and has its own little cutlery trays that are a bit awkward but whatever

Fits just nice on top of the washing machine, my only worry is that sometimes the washing machine vibrates a fair bit so hopefully that won't shift the dishwasher too much. I suppose I could look at fixing the dw in place with some double sided tape

E: looks pretty good post-wash - it doesn't seem like it has much of a dry cycle but I guess I could leave it ajar for a while and let it dry naturally. Yay! No more handwashing!!

I was going to do stuff and then didn’t. The most I managed was calling the endodontist, trying to line up a lift, and pulling the dishes out of the dishwasher (but not rinsing). Maybe picking a few things off the floor. Spraying the zucchinis.

It’s been really hard to move or do anything. And there may be a power cut tonight -_-

Anyone here get five servings of vegetables a day?

I know for a fact that I do not, like many other Australians, but I am trying to be more deliberate with it. You can add them to pretty much anything.

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I eat a variety of fruit and veg everyday, but I genuinely don’t know. Honestly I don’t even know what a serve is. Is it a carrot? Half a carrot? Do tomatoes count? What if it’s a pasta sauce? Can I be bothered looking it up and counting? Nope. I think the nutritional guidelines should be made plainer and simpler. Best advice is eat a variety of foods, mostly plants, mostly not ultraprocessed, and in moderation.
