Look, I'm down with his attitude to CEOs, but I just can't get on board with the "everyone must see my ankles" club. I'm out.

Bruno Magli? Bold choice, let's see how it works out. :)

Probably will result in some power tripping anti Luigi feet mod taking out his unpopular opinion by banning anyone who disagrees. Fuck that hypothetical guy am I right.

Free feet on main!? That's no way to keep your adoring fans thirsty. ;)

I didn't know how, but he's managed to make even this look classy

[–] carl_dungeon@lemmy.world 92 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

What are they worried about, there a lot of CEOs in the courtroom?

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 9 points 15 hours ago

He made it pretty far on foot after the murder, so there is that.

Those shoes are probably sold out now.

[–] wildcardology@lemmy.world 101 points 20 hours ago (5 children)

Wow, they are really afraid of this guy.

[–] Maeve@midwest.social 3 points 4 hours ago

I don't think so. It's all a show, for us to be afraid of our consequences, rather than reflecting on institutions and systems, and the consequences of those collective actions.

[–] Toribor@corndog.social 11 points 8 hours ago

The way they've handled him you'd think they were hauling the Joker in and out of court or something.

What's the source for the obviously biased article about the twisted women? Takes me back to when they called protesters "thugs" during the Floyd protests.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Oh, that 100% tracks from that rag. By comparison, a similar article from NPR was a lot more careful about it, e.g. "Mangione has received widespread public support, despite state and federal officials discouraging it." Good lesson in identifying bias.

NPR even had the message Luigi sent out thanking his supporters, which I think is nice.

Agnifilo argues against this decision. He is a model prisoner

The way the clothes they wear are flying off the shelves, and Luigi's outstanding photogenic quality, you bet they're a model prisoner.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 65 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (2 children)

All just ammo for the appeal.

The shooter calmly walked away, and Luigi was arrested calmly in a McDonald's.

At no stage was there some crazy escape or shootout where something like this would be warranted in court, and things like this have been argued to have influenced potential jury members in past cases.

Like, it's one straw on a giant pile of better examples so far, but it all adds up. They're gonna OJ this shit and go so hard it ends in a mistrial or something crazy.

Especially since the trial is going to be a media circus and Trump won't be able to keep his nose out of it, it'll kill him that he won't be the main attraction.

The thing is, support for Luigi crosses party lines. It might be what causes a maga fracture if everything falls right.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 64 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

There's not going to be a mistrial. This is going to be the most cooked trial you've ever seen in your life. Every single juror is going to vote guilty no matter what happens. Through bribery or threats it will happen. You can book it.

[–] electricyarn@lemmy.world 19 points 18 hours ago

It's improbable that there won't be jury tampering, but the public support for this fella is pretty hard to deny.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago

TBF he was arrested calmly in a McDonalds in the next state over with a bag filled with $20,000 cash. Idk if that on its own warrants treating him as such a flight risk to warrant handcuffs, or maybe if this is just federal custody protocol, but either way I get it.

No socks though! My feet are feeling cold just looking at them!

[–] Krompus@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Yeah, it’s February (and cold in NY), where are the socks?!

[–] zipzoopaboop@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Sounds like you have poor circulation. Should consider more cardio

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

I walk around barefoot pretty much all summer. Just that it’s been -10 here since December.

[–] Monzcarro@feddit.uk 10 points 12 hours ago

My dad (who is wearing near identical shoes as I write this) will tell you that you don't wear socks with these. I wouldn't call him an authority on style though.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago

I’m guessing they swap out his prison issued shoes before court. And probably socks are difficult with the shackles.
