They aren't selling well, I hear, and I see them piled up at the local Tesla dealership. Burning them just lets them write them off on insurance

They are because most insurance companies refused to insure them!

Insurance ain't free. Insurance companies will not work with companies that automatically cost them money.

Teslas are already very expensive to insure and the Cybertruck is downright uninsurable in some states.

Still kills the brand. Will be harder to make future sales. Harder to get outside creditors/investors to help float Tesla in the comming economic downturn.
