The US has always been a country built on slavery, white supremacy, imperialism and propaganda. The country was always going to end up this way once it's economy ran out of things to pillage. Trump is a symptom, not the cause.

The first step of turning the US into a nation worth being proud of is to recognise these foundational evils so you can correct them.

that isn't even how that meme works
the last panel is supposed to be the injured person blaming falling off the bike on something ridiculous that they don't like

at least, every instance of it i've seen

maybe "human rights for Americans disappearing." MAYBE. Even that's still really pushing it. Up until now it was "well the govt almost definitely won't black bag me for speaking out against it." Now uhhhhhh it might.

Even before then, people that protested the genocide of Palestinians were definitely met with violence. So you couldn't even speak out against the government anyway if it was deemed a threat to the status quo.

Not only that, but communists and civil rights movements are always under threat of being "black bagged". People act like Malcom X didn't happen, like MLK didn't happen. It did, those people were murdered by the capitalist government for being too loud with their 'freedom'. People disappear in the US all the time.

A more correct meme would be if the bike was labeled "latent fascism" and no stick was involved, it just did that to the rider because that's what happens when you start riding the Fascism Bike

Let me shake the magic eight ball if the usa will ever admit it's an apartheid state built on genocide and theft:

shake

"No"

I honestly don't even know if they can be corrected at this point. But we have to try. And it has to go far beyond liberal land acknowledgements and "feeling bad about it"

it has to go far beyond liberal land acknowledgements and "feeling bad about it"

As an Australian this hits hard. So many businesses here have a laminated piece of paper hanging in some dark corner that says something along the lines of "We acknowledge and respect the traditional owners of this land"

OH REALLY, DO YOU? DO THEY HAVE ANY LEGAL POWER OVER THIS LAND YOU ACKNOWLEDGE BELONGS TO THEM?!

Nope, it's just empty words. Indigenous people have no say over their land here.

Mining companies doing land acknowledgements >.>

People support candidates who support genocide and suppress free speech

Human rights abuses happen shocked-pikachu

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 12 points 5 days ago

Liberals will probably still believe you need to be civil to your opponents. Wow, big surprise that they won't reciprocate that civility.
