This reminds me of when I accidentally emailed a client named Bob and addressed him as Boob. I also once pinged my boss on what was then Skype, now Teams saying hey K**e instead of Mike (the M and K are right next to each other on the keyboard. I'm pretty sure he's Jewish or at least part.

Thankfully both were laughed off, but man did I feel like a dumbass.

Why is the message in the Trash folder?

[–] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Because probably trying to put it in the past, it was a nice email but it was unnecessary and I think it draws too much attention to the simple slip up. Nothing needed to be said.

Fair, my instinct would have been to immediately let them off the hook and reassure them so they wouldn’t kick themselves all weekend, but I probably would’ve preferred a more temporary and unofficial medium than email.

I'm smiling now.

Mad props to the lad for not only having the self awareness that his role in the hierarchy likely gave you anxiety from that mistake but for also taking the time to reassure you it was ok. You don't see that every day. I love it.

You redacted the most important part! We're dying to know, did he sign it "love you"?

Love you too!

(Even though I'm not the person you replied to)

I worked phone support a few years ago and did that at the end of a call with a customer. I was really tired and the person was kinda draining but nice, and for some reason my dog's face slipped into my mind as we were ending the call, who I say k-love-you-thanks-bye to all the time.

I worked call center years ago for a credit card company. Used to answer my phone accidentally with my intro from work.

Imagine doing that but you work as a standup comedian or a youtuber or something.
