Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

On Friday is May 9th, which is the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, which Russia, among other places, celebrates as the day when the Soviets defeated the Nazis. Naturally, one of the current hotspots of fascism in the world today, Ukraine, is essentially threatening that they might strike Russia or even Moscow itself during that timeframe. Any such strike would almost certainly be symbolic and not aimed at anything too important, as I doubt even Zelensky and his American handlers would actually want to kill a world leader, not least somebody like Xi Jinping. But I would not be surprised if they tried something nonetheless, if only to disrupt the event in some way and not actually kill anybody.

And, as we're on this topic, @EllenKelly@hexbear.net has reminded me that Tuesday is the anniversary of the Nazis burning the Institut für Sexualwissenschaf in 1933, an early institute advocating for the rights of LGBT people, and which also provided early forms of gender-affirming surgeries, as well as hormone therapies. We are currently seeing a crackdown on LGBT rights throughout swathes of the imperial core (as well as countries in the periphery, to the extent that those rights existed there already), and this Nazi-inspired movement will be similarly defeated in the future.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.

Current interim leader of Canada's NDP Don Davies in 2019:

"So honoured to bring greetings on behalf of Parliament to mark April 30, Journey to Freedom Day. We remember all those who lost their lives fleeing oppression in Vietnam, and are inspired by the ideals of freedom, democracy and human rights."

democracy is when foreign backed generals coup the government and the more coups happen the more democratic it is

AY LMAOOOOO

"Germany's Merz falls short of majority in vote for chancellor"

Friedrich Merz needed 316 votes in the 630-seat Bundestag but only secured 310, in a significant blow to the Christian Democrat leader, two and a half months after winning Germany's federal elections.

His coalition with the centre-left has enough seats in parliament but it appears 18 MPs who had been expected to back him dissented. Merz's failure in the first vote is seen as unprecedented in modern German history.

The Bundestag will now have another 14 days to choose either Merz or another candidate as chancellor.

Under Germany's constitution, there is no limit to how many votes can be held, but ultimately if no absolute majority is reached then a candidate can be elected without one.

No candidate has failed in this way since 1949. obama-spike

[–] FuckyWucky@hexbear.net 16 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

L

Merz's defeat is seen by political commentators as a humiliation, probably inflicted by a handful of disaffected members of the Social Democrat SPD, which signed a coalition deal with his conservatives on Monday.

Not everyone in the SPD is happy with the deal, but party officials were adamant their party was fully committed to it.

jesus christ are they going to drive the entire population into the Negev

sounds either like the genocide the Germans did in Namibia, or optimistically like the forced relocation into fortified villages as during the Algerian war, Mau Mau uprising, Vietnam war, Cuban war of Independence, and Malayan Emergency

In heartwarming news of the day, Asmongold's house is currently filled with asbestos debris.

why does it take an entire day to remove a single animal corpse from one's attic? Seems like a 20 minute job tops

Also, isn't he a multimillionaire? Has he ever heard of hiring people?

[–] Comrade_Mushroom@hexbear.net 14 points 5 hours ago

Pretty convinced this is just his public persona at this point

[–] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 9 points 5 hours ago

Ita a day of mourning silly

also that just looks like oldschool roofing insulation to me

[–] ziggurter@hexbear.net 26 points 8 hours ago

Some "attics" (crawl spaces) are really, really, really badly constructed and inaccessible. That would be my guess. And it probably just being inundated with the odor all over, requiring a search through all the nooks and crannies—probably half-filled with insulation—while crawling on joists (so as not to fall through the ceiling like he ultimately did) and squeezing through little claustrophobic openings to find the corpse. I could easily imagine this taking a good number of exhausting hours to do in some of the crawl spaces I've seen and been in.

If anyone's going to be subjected to such a miserable experience, I'm glad it was him. Hope as he fell through that ceiling he got a good face full of maggoty, decaying possum or whatever.

[–] Breath_Of_The_Snake@hexbear.net 35 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Why is there a cross on the wall? His house is a shrine to nurgle.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 36 points 9 hours ago

he lived with his mom who was a normie religious southerner, she passed away a couple years ago and he hasn't changed anything about the house whatsoever since. He doesn't clean or change anything

[–] mkultrawide@hexbear.net 27 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

I dont think thats asbestos. Looks like old fiberglass insulation.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 12 points 6 hours ago

Popcorn ceiling 80s house? It's gotta be asbestos.

[–] ziggurter@hexbear.net 16 points 8 hours ago

Hard to tell without testing. The asbestos could easily be in the drywall rather than the insulation. But who knows.

[–] CredibleBattery@hexbear.net 33 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

if its actual asbestos he'll get mesothelioma in 20 years and die, motherfucker's on borrowed time lmao

[–] Sinisterium@hexbear.net 4 points 2 hours ago

The way he is living, he already was.

[–] insurgentrat@hexbear.net 43 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

It actually takes a lot of exposure to kill you, it's more that each exposure increases the damage done to lungs. The material was used up till like 85 in aus. Most houses include a fair bit, our fence was, our garagae and laundry are entirely, soffits etc all are.

The people who worked with it, in mining and manufacturing mainly, were the ones most affected. He can huff some fibres and be fine, which while regrettable in his case is good news considering how widely contaminated the world is.

Shit it was recently found in mulch in children's playgrounds here haha, haha send help.

[–] insurgentrat@hexbear.net 19 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

You know, I have absolutely no idea what that emote means.

You're sad imagining being happy at that?

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 22 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

it's the sicko emoji from the onion cartoons. The sicko sits outside the window watching something happen and nodding, saying "yes! hahaha yes!"

sicko-flipped

There's all sorts of variants for our more bespoke sicko needs

sicko-pig

sicko-biker

xicko

sicko-fem

etc....

This variation is the sad sicko imagining being a happy sicko. As in, the stuff we want to happen isn't happening

[–] insurgentrat@hexbear.net 11 points 7 hours ago

Ah, thanks for the thorough explanation.

[–] tocopherol@hexbear.net 19 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

It's a sicko who has to be non-sicko, he had hopes of celebrating that which delights the sicko ( sicko-flipped ) but instead must eat dinner with his kids or something. He's sad because he's imagining the situation he would celebrate but it has not come to fruition.

In case you aren't familiar with the sicko it's from the Onion cartoons by Kelly kelly

[–] insurgentrat@hexbear.net 12 points 7 hours ago

Appreciated the explanation :)

The new United States bomber task force deployment that I was reporting on the possibility of a few days ago, is now happening. At least two B-52H Stratofortress bombers from Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, are being forward deployed to Diego Garcia, an island in the Indian Ocean. There are currently six B-2A Spirit stealth bombers deployed to Diego Garcia (which have been bombing Yemen), so these B-52s will join them.

Twitter source, with audio recording thanks to open source signals intelligence (SIGINT)

Xcancel mirror

There are now a total of at least 12 United States Air Force Strategic Bombers forward deployed (all photos are of said bombers at the respective locations, however only the B-1 photo is from the current deployment):

Stationed at Diego Garcia:

  • 6x B-2A Spirit stealth bombers.
  • 2x B-52H Stratofortress bombers at minimum.

Stationed in Japan:

  • 4x B-1B Lancer supersonic swing wing bombers.

If the US where to pull the trigger on Iran, when would you think they would consider they are ready?

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 29 points 10 hours ago

That's difficult to say because I don't know the scale of any potential attack they'd want to carry out. They're ready to carry out some sort of strike right now, 6 B-2s and 2 B-52s is a potential maximum of 136 JASSM cruise missiles per sortie, and that's just from the bombers, nevermind any fighter aircraft launching JASSMs themselves (an F-15E can carry 5 JASSMs max), Tomahawks from US Navy warships, and other kinds of stand off weapons such as SLAM-ER cruise missiles from F/A-18s, and the suppression of air defences by EA-18Gs with AARGM and AARGM-ER anti radiation missiles, and F-35s going in for closer range strikes, and lastly the Israeli Air Force with their air launched ballistic missiles. That's a potential of hundreds of precision guided cruise missiles and ballistic missiles per attack wave with the assets in place currently, with the aim to neuter Iran's military capabilities and open up a corridor for stand in bombings by stealth aircraft like the F-35 and B-2.

Serbian students call for early parliamentary elections

Just gonna copy my comment from the other thread

This declaration was literally just preceded by some liberal moron professor calling a handful of leftist students the "Khmer Rouge" and them being associated with a marginal leftist party in Serbia, which itself he alleges is being financed by the CPC (even though he doesn't provide any evidence for either of these claims whatsoever). He made these claims alongside accusations of this "minority" of students "sabotaging" the "majority" from voting to participate in the elections. Did I mention he considers it a bad thing that the students are anti-NATO? (like they didn't literally bomb the country, how could they possibly dislike them?). Because this request for the elections is gonna be accompanied by a list comprised of professors chosen by their students, there's a decent chance this fucking charlatan makes it on the list of those 250 professors. Makes me scared of the possibility these professors might be majority pro-EU, which doesn't bode well for the geopolitics of the country, especially not at this fucking moment.
