Idk how they expect to pull off a bloody revolution if MLP has elements that trigger them. This is definitely the first time I’ve seen content warnings for the series.

Meanwhile On Grad
Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!
What is a Tankie?
Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.
(caution of biased source)
Basic Rules:
Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.
Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.
Apologia — (Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.
Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.
Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.
Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.
You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.
I see no issue, in fact this is rather progressive and I agree with them, should be way more common
Ok tankie
Not that there’s anything wrong with content warnings. But you’d think people who actively celebrate massacres and call for the death of others can handle a children’s cartoon lol
celebrate massacres? Do you mean the war in Ukraine?
Ukraine, as well as the Uyghur genocide in China. As long as it's the right "team" doing the evil, it's totally okay to them.
I think many of these are a huge stretch and if you are getting triggered over "childhood bullying" in "My Little Pony Friendship is Magic" that perhaps you need to not be engaging with the internet unsupervised.
At some point we have to let adults experience uncomfortable, negative, and unwanted emotions and experiences in art or otherwise we will infantilize the population.
A lot of people have trauma and these content warnings can help prevent panic attacks and traumatic episodes even, if it seems minor to you it may not be so minor to others
This is for a show designed for small children. If you cannot handle shows made for pre-schoolers than you need significant help and should not be ysing the internet as you are not healthy enough to handle that.
Note: Im not rejecting trigger warnings entirely but I am saying that listing them for My Little Pony is extreme. If you cannot handle kids shows you have real problems
They know their own community well which often comes off as insular, but yeah content warnings for a watch party is a pretty normal thing.
Funny stuff. Especially considering how tankies go ballistic with execution fantasies. I have personally seen one tankie fantasize about killing a non-tankie (that they were having discussing with) with an ice pick and generally behave like disgusting degenerates.
Of all the extremists I've had the misfortune of interacting with, from Neo-Nazis to Jihadists to Incels, Tankies are by far the most pathetic in terms of practicing what they preach.
They larp about violence but can't stand the sight of it for even a second, which questions how they'll manage any revolution or advancing their course when merely going outside is a mental challenge for them. Reminds me of that Disco Elysium dialogue about communism, where it sounds brave to say the slogans, but when it comes to reality, you'll have firing lines, animal wagons and genocide.
It's all larp. It's why I think they like liberals and want to be liberal themselves, but feel too embarrassed to admit it.
Yeah I have been told, multiple times, this is my fault, personally, because I am not out shooting redhats. This is coming from people who's comment history betrays they fact that they have never been in a fight, let alone killed someone.
Yeah, tankies are the definitely the most pathetic and disconnected from reality.
I would even go as far as saying it's mostly online roleplay (bored teenagers, internet demagogue-shitposters and the mentally ill).
And it's a not matter of me talking shit about them and hating (I am Ukrainian so I do actually hate them). They have zero presence in the real world and no one takes them seriously.
Russians treat them as useful idiots, I don't know Chinese (and I've never loved in China), but I will speculate that even Chinese nationalists don't take them seriously.
Yeah, it's sad in a way that no one in geopolitics takes them seriously.
But that's probably a good thing that they're ultimately harmless.
Do you get any hate on lemmy for being ukranian?
Not really, no.
There is definitely an above average amount people spreading russian propaganda considering the modest size (55K MAU).
Lemmy seems like the most viable alternative to US-based social networks. Hopefully it gets larger and outgrows its tankie roots.
I'm not sure if it can outgrow its tankie roots. They're pretty firmly planted
Eventually everyone will defederate the degenerates and all will be well. And there are alternatives to Lemmy, like piefed. Thanks to ActivityPub, you can talk with Lemmy communities easily.
This seems almost sane to me. I think its a very normal experience when watching stuff from your childhood that Adult You isnt cool with at all. I'm sure we've all had the experience of watching a movie you loved as a kid when you stumble upon the Racism Olympics Scene, e.g. the asian foreign exchange student in Sixteen Candles, or the blackface fish that appears during Under the Sea in the Little Mermaid. As for myself, I can't stand plots where the entire plot revolves about our main character refusing to communicate or self-sabotaging for the entire movie, and it would be nice to get a heads-up about that going in even if thats not "triggering".
I think this is a rare Hexbear W, and I would be happy if this was more normal.
If child-you can handle watching a cartoon horse fall down some stairs, then adult-you can certainly handle it. If not, then something drastically wrong happened along the way.
But the main point is their delight in consuming corporate media. The cartoon is an ad to sell more toys. It's also about how they feel the need to put content warnings for a cartoon, but not for the memes they have celebrating massacres and atrocities, and the constant calls for violence, death and terrorism. You don't see the irony of any of this?
You are generalizing bull crap again.
People that join to watch /c/movies together aren't necessarily watching a kids advertising show to get PTSD again at things people do get phobias with.
Content warnings are great, EVEN WHEN STUDYING HISTORY. If you do find that hexies SHOULD content warn their communities more, TAKE IT TO THEIR /c/META. There’s no irony here, just disagreements on what phobias should or not be warned upon.
E.g., I'm vegan, and did I report you for your KFC comment? No because I comprehended the context of your derisive joke. Should you have content warned for it? That's a question you have to face with your administrators and sh.itjust.works users.
These are fair generalisations considering examples of their bigotry and irony have been posted all across this community.
No one can comment on Hexbear or any tankie instance because they remove all forms of dissent. You can make these issues known if you want, but you won't get anywhere. I also like how you're equating watching corporate childrens media with studying history lol.
If cartoon horses are enough to trigger you mate then you're fucked wherever you visit online or even in reality.
So, if I comprehend your stance on “⚠️content warnings,” I shouldn't bother with them at all because I won't “get anywhere” with people with legitimate phobias?
Strong disagree as this infantilizes people. You should as an adult experience art that challenges you and make you feel uncomfortable from time to time.
The only trigger warnings that I think should be shared up front are those that actually trigger PTSD. You aren't going to have war flashbacks from My Little Pony.
Read a book or two about PTSD. It has nothing to do with war, it's about trauma. You can acquire a trauma in many ways and while war is the most talked about, it's far from the most common.
What's your favourite content warning?
The way these people act in their day to day life has virtually nothing to do with their position on historical events.
Can you go into detail?
