Nah. I find German kind of playful actually. Phrases that sound Latinate and serious in English, in German sound more playful to me as a native Anglophone. As they often use similar roots to "less serious" Germanic words in English.
One of my favorites. After learning insults in German and Spanish, English curses are weaksauce.
