The billionaire is also alleged to have used ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms — and sources suggest it could have affected his work at DOGE

The world’s richest man, who put about $288 million towards Trump’s re-election campaign last year and has been a key member of his inner circle since, also carried around packaging labelled as Adderall pills, a stimulant used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and other conditions, according to photographs seen by the publication.

Musk stepped down from his role in government this week as his contracted time as a special government employee came to an end, and has lamented the criticism aimed at the cost-cutting agency and the reputational damage his companies took.

Musk was asked about the New York Times article in an appearance at the White House alongside Trump on Friday. “Is that the same publication that got a Pulitzer Prize for false reporting on the Russiagate?” he replied, referring to claims that Trump had been compromised by Russia during his 2016 presidential election victory. “Is it the same organisation? Let’s move on.”

He deserves far worse than pissing blood.

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 256 points 2 days ago (8 children)

I don't like this theory, cause it implies that everything he has done is because of the drugs, and not because he's a megalomaniac narcissistic greedy moron.

[–] Brokkr@lemmy.world 114 points 2 days ago (8 children)

My theory is that his PR people are "leaking" these stories that he can rebuild his image as a recovering addict. This will let them craft a sympathetic story and they will hope that we'll forget that he's a racist asshole.

Bingo, he’s the fall man for the White House right now. If you view American politics under the lens of professional wrestling it makes a lot of sense. Musk is doing a heel turn so he attracts more flak on his way out.

[–] Alaik@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Who's the secretary of education again? Lol

Three rabid skunks in a pantsuit.

[–] andyburke@fedia.io 37 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 day ago

Yeah, no amount of drugs could make me do that.

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 25 points 2 days ago

I think this is partway to the truth.

This is also PR for Trump, who should still hold the majority of the blame for the disastrous DOGE firing spree and violations of private data on citizens. You know, for letting this billionaire Nazi prick buy his way into the White House in the first place.

Instead, they’ll say Trump thought Muskrat had a good head on his shoulders and didn’t realize Elon was so drugged out and causing problems. Poor Trump just had no idea.

Either a hero when it works, or a victim when it doesn’t, never any personal accountability.

Typical Narcissist/Sociopath (i.e., giant cunt).

Exactly, it lowers inhibitions, it doesn't carve a completely different asshole.

[–] dinren@discuss.online 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, no one becomes an asshole after shrooms.

[–] Photuris@lemmy.ml 28 points 2 days ago (4 children)

But people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (and related Cluster B disorders) have been known to come out of the psychedelic experience with an even bigger egomaniacal God complex than they had going into the experience, counterintuitively.

[–] dinren@discuss.online 10 points 2 days ago

I came out with “nothing matters” but to me that was good cause I was full of anxiety. I suppose if you’re rich as fuck, you don’t have real-world anxiety, and you come out with the same as me, that could be pretty dangerous.

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 4 points 1 day ago

This is both interesting and concerning.

He’s a drug addict, it’s not a theory he’s on hella drugs, he IS on hella drugs

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Right. He's a Nazi first and foremost, with or without the drugs.

[–] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Yep, the drugs aren't a cause, they are an effect of being a greedy, narcissistic, megalomaniac, moron.

sources suggest it could have affected his work at DOGE

What? He aced his work at DOGE.

He stripmined all the data and halted the regulatory investigations into his companies.

[–] pinheadednightmare@lemm.ee 8 points 1 day ago

Too bad that’s all it did.

[–] burgerpocalyse@lemmy.world 56 points 1 day ago (1 children)

this is being leaked to press because the people in the white house who had to deal with Elon HATE him and NEVER want him back, and desperately want him to be the fall guy for all the terrible things Trump's admin did and is doing. part of me wishes he was kicked out, but another part enjoys the suffering he causes for the terrible people orbiting the white house

[–] LavaPlanet@lemm.ee 13 points 1 day ago

I think they're just setting up a defense for all the illegal activity, so when they investigate, they've got a get out of jail free, card. Not that he would go to jail with the amount of money he has.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 62 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I don't think there's an amount of ketamine that would have me doing this, though, even by accident...

elon hitler salute gif

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Idk. I told the doctors and nurses to tell all the girls I had big crushes on (individually, by name) that I loved them even though I was dying and I would protect them like an angel.

I wasn't actually dying, I was having a minor procedure and a hypersensitive reaction to the drug.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That is not even close to the same thing as giving two consecutive Nazi salutes in front of millions of people.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

No. No it's not. In fact, I would say Ketamine doesn't cause people to become Nazis.

I would say that Ketamine lets your inner self get exposure.

En Ketamine Veritas

[–] TrippaSnippa@aussie.zone 6 points 1 day ago

I had a colonoscopy years ago when I was engaged to my now-wife, and when I woke up from the anaesthesia I just babbled about how much I loved her. At no point did I come remotely close to doing a Nazi salute.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Patients with ketamine abuse can present with urinary frequency, nocturia, urgency, incontinence, cystitis, bladder or loin pain and haematuria, which are debilitating symptoms causing a profoundly negative impact on quality of life [2]. Pain can promote the further use of ketamine or other recreational drugs to help suppress distressing symptoms, so compounding the condition. Onset of urinary symptoms is typically delayed from the time ketamine is first used, and the severity of symptoms appears to be related to the quantity and duration of drug intake [3].

Okay, forget his bladder. Let's talk about the effects on what pretends to be his brain.

[–] maxxadrenaline@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Fuck him and the orange turd he rode in on him.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

First Xanax, now ketamine. Is there a drug out there that doesn't make people go on racist ourbursts?

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 5 points 1 day ago

Rosanne has no idea what you're talking about.

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 2 days ago

Dude must smell like the inside of a vet’s office.

[–] SynonymousStoat@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Well, I guess there goes the old theory of giving people in control psychedelics and MDMA and having it turn them around and become more empathetic.

Also, I've heard the bladder issues excessive ketamine causes is incredibly painful and I would normally have some sympathy for someone with the condition, but I really find it lacking when it's concerning someone who has caused so much chaos and harm.

Edit: spelling

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 13 points 2 days ago

Based on what I know Ketamine does to a person's behaviors, taking enough to enjoy it yet not enough to see mouse people leads me to believe he's actually much worse of a person behind closed doors and sober.

[–] altphoto 8 points 1 day ago

That's the part of the fish that makes him ugly:

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

And his brain.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 13 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Agreed, this is ultimately fantastic news, if true. Fuck that guy and I hope his various organs just give up one by one. Or all at once. He's a wildly destructive loser of a man.

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Tesla should engineer a pisser into their vehicles.

That's what the driver-side door is for.

[–] duhbasser@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago

I honestly hope he isn’t gone so he continues to do an insane amount of drugs and fucking cooks his peanut of a brain so much he either dies or goes into a coma.
