He is a fucking traitor. We have literally executed people in this country for the same crimes he is alleged to have committed. Ignoring that really serves to undermine the severity of the situation.

[-] ElleChaise@kbin.social 13 points 7 months ago

Not to mention the tradition. Sharpen your pitchforks, y'all.

[-] Riccosuave@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

I'm not entirely sure what you're saying here?

[-] MotoAsh@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Authoritarians do not leave office over something trivial like losing a vote. Or have you just not been paying attention to history at all?

If Trump gets in again, Republicans won't be losing power through vote again.

Don't be pedantic. I was clarifying what the previous poster meant by their comment since it was kind of nebulous.

I'm fully aware of the dangers of authoritarianism historically, presently, and in the future.

[-] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

I would infer it as the "peasants revolt" using farm instruments instead of purposely design weapons if war to defend you and yours, and to overthrow tyrants.

[-] Riccosuave@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

I realize that now. It was more the "tradition" part that had me confused. Either way, appreciate the more friendly explanation 😉

[-] MotoAsh@lemmy.world -1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Then why any confusion on pitchforks? If authoritarians take over ...

T00l_shed gets it.

[-] Riccosuave@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

See my above comment. It wasn't the pitchfork part I was confused about.

[-] Patches@sh.itjust.works 2 points 7 months ago

I'm not sure a pitchfork is going to do anything if he succeeds in the way you are implying. You're gonna want a gun.

We all really need to hear this, trump is planning to take over our country again because the alternative is prison and/or his businesses disolve. We all have to be prepared, because he tried last time when he lost. Him losing the election isn't necessarily going to stop this. Tubervile, the scapegoat, and all of the other Republicans are holding up promotions in the military for a reason, he has a judge making judgements for him in Florida and a stacked SCOTUS on his side, we really need to listen.

“The people that are sounding the alarm loudest about what a second Trump term would mean are those who are closest to him.”

[-] Hairyblue@kbin.social 38 points 7 months ago

It's this. Trump is looking at prison because he actually did crimes. (Biden didn't indict him. A jury of regular people did, so this is not Biden trying to put Trump in jail. Trump did crimes.) If Trump had enough loyalist in the right places, then Trump would have stayed in power. Trump and wicked republicans did have a plan to end our democracy. They will try again. Trump wants to use the military to force his will on us.

And I am a gay man, atheist, and progressive/left. I am one of the "rats" Trump/maga wants to punish in their revenge presidency.

As a mom of a special needs daughter, I fear for what he and the GOP have planned for my child's and my basic human rights. I know they think I'm vermin. I cannot fathom what future they think my child should have.

[-] pinkdrunkenelephants@lemmy.cafe 4 points 7 months ago

Have you considered getting armed and firearms training? Shit will get real next year and you might have to defend yourself and your daughter.

We all desperately need to, in actual fact

[-] Hairyblue@kbin.social 0 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Citizens with guns are good for defending against regular criminals but if Trump gets the military we can't fight against them.

[-] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

The same military that got run out of Afghanistan and Vietnam?

Sure, that might have been due to "public pressure" or "politics" but I think bombing Chicago or rolling tanks down the highway in Dallas will be pretty unpopular, politically.

Add to that the fact that there are a lot of very talented people who would suddenly have a very direct and morally unambiguous target. Did the FBI ever catch the dumb asshole who shot up the substation in NC a year or so back?

It wouldn't be a decisive win for either side. And who knows how many people in the military would defect, quit, or refuse to fight.

[-] Patches@sh.itjust.works 1 points 7 months ago

We really don't know what would happen in the scenario.

You're going to be hard pressed if you think most soldiers are going to be a-okay with dropping agent orange in their own hometown.

[-] InLikeClint@kbin.social 31 points 7 months ago

Rats jumping off a sinking ship. These pussies say this shit years after all of us with sense have been echoing this point.

[-] MagicShel@programming.dev 9 points 7 months ago

Yeah. I called him a clear and present danger six years ago. Where's my book deal?

[-] theodewere@kbin.social 27 points 7 months ago

all of his supporters are traitors as well

[-] Gingerlegs@lemmy.world 21 points 7 months ago
[-] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 8 points 7 months ago

And I'll STILL vote for him because my hate for Gay and Black Kids transcends my Love for America!

[-] Custoslibera@lemmy.world 10 points 7 months ago

The America they love doesn’t have LGBTQIA+ or black people.

They don’t want them in their country.

[-] ghostdoggtv@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

Patriots, to arms

[-] Uniquitous@lemmy.one 3 points 7 months ago

Either Kelly or Mattis, gotta be.

[-] PrincessLeiasCat@sh.itjust.works 5 points 7 months ago

They’ve both spoken out publicly before though, right? Article said this person hasn’t.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

Geez he gets greasier in every picture lately. Guh.

[-] xc2215x@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago
